Seattle is dying
I was watching a youtube documentary a few days ago and I could not believe what the city has become! What the heck happened to it? Would like to hear from the fellow Washington members on this topic and how they feel about this.Seattle is one of the cities in the PNW that is considered the crown jewel of this region.

Re: Seattle is dying
My two uncle story..
My oldest uncle Micheal retired in Seattle in '95 after 24 years in the Army. He has pretty bad PSTD from the Gulf War. Loved it when he 1st moved there and now he hardly goes anywhere. Told him to move but he has a beautiful home he doesn't want to sell.
My other uncle Todd moved in with Micheal two years ago from Minnesota for a new job opportunity and didn't last 6 months...hated the weather, hated the people and the lil hipster kids all over. The job was great but said f$ck this I'm going back home. I won't even visit there and waste my vacation time from the shit I've heard...

Well Portland OR. is just across the river from WA.
Portland is the already right next to Seattle, L.A., and San Francisco.
The whole west coast is franked.
Here is your video on Seattle but there are many more.
Quite a few about Portland also if we are talking the NW area.

The weather in the PNW takes a bit to get use to,also the people here are majority snobs,so I don't blame him for going back to where he came from.I would not recommend going there now,but if you do want to see the PNW for what it is,come down to where I am at,so much nicer and it don't look like one big tent city littered with trash.

It is fine where I am at,the government wil not put up with this shit if it happened here. They would tell the cops to shit kick them out and clean the place up by all means possible.Very rarely do I ever see a tent set up on public property,if it does happen, they are booted out quickly.

Re: Seattle is dying
I loved Seattle when I lived there. In truth, I lived in Silverdale, but hopped the ferry often and spent a lot of time walking around the city, pikes place, spent a ton of time at the EMP. It was an amazing place to experience, but a federal judge would have to sentence me to a stretch there to get me to go back. What a nightmare

That's called supply and demand. They'll almost pay you to drive one to the Bay Area from somewhere else.

This is what you get when you vote democrat. Why aren’t there democrats defending their city right now on the museum? Because it’s not a global warming thread or bashing the President thread. Democrats really don’t want the truth that all their political agendas are failures.

Re: Seattle is dying
I watched this a few weeks ago & was blown away with the conditons there. I was in Portland about 3 years ago & thought that was a shithole, after some searching around YouTube, the whole West Coast is looking like that.
Salt Lake City started seeing a real upturn in homelessness a few years ago, first thing they did was make public camping in the City limits illegal. All the tent cities & camps disappeared. They also made panhandling illegal on public walkways. It worked very well. Oh course you had the bleeding hearts crying it was heartless & all that crap. They have services here for homeless, the people that want them, get it. The ones that don't usually end up in Vegas.

Re: Seattle is dying
Every major city in America for the most part is run by Democrats - they are labs of their policies and they always fail.
Most of these cities have the same problems:
Shitty roads
Lots of crime
Poverty
Government dependence
High unemployment
Corruption in government
Republican mayors are few and far between in major cities. Offhand I can't think of a Republican running any of our country's largest cities.

Re: Seattle is dying
The documentary tells the story if you watch it..
Not dealing with addiction and crime seems to be the problem..
No easy answers to this stuff.. whatever political party you follow.
I like Portland, and visit Seattle too..
things are tough all over?! IMHO..

Re: Seattle is dying
I visited both in 2007. Portland was def the better city it seemed very clean, and strangely enough I saw the most hilarious panhandling sign ever there - "Will work for GWAR tickets".
Seattle, I visited the market and walk outside and there's nothing but homeless people sleeping all over this grassy knoll. The view was beautiful but the homeless people were everywhere.
Went up to the Space Needle of course.
Visited Cobain's house.
Didn't get a 12 egg omelette.
Didn't get to Jimi's gravesite unfort.
I then went out to Astoria and that was nice too. If you like cool summer weather the Oregon coast is your spot. It was 2007 so pre-Axemen - and i drove 26, which was a great drive. It was so surreal to see these men working that route after I visited.
One thing I noticed on the Oregon coast was the tree cutting to create culdasacs. They will just go halfway up a hill, shave out the trees, build a few homes, and just keep doing that up the hillside.
I will def be back to Oregon soon. I wanna visit Leatherman and go to the Treesort, and visit the scenes from Stand By Me.

Ya know I wondered about this too! Not a single member from Washington state, specifically the Seattle are has posted anything about this topic. The issue with Seattle is,the people voted in a spineless hippie wimp who stripped away the cops powers to do anything,on top of that,he hires a bunch of useless idiots like himself.

Re: Seattle is dying
Only only reason why this has not happened to the city I live in is due to the fact the border stops them from coming up and also the city would not allow this shit to happen....zero tolerance! LIke I stated in a previous thread, cops and city workers will be ripping down tents and tossing their belongings in the trash, and if they resist, they would get tazed or a old fashion beating.
