FBM is not what they use to be,go with another custom builder instead if you want quality.

Yikes! I had asked them about making a Bitchin Camaro, guess mileage does vary!

What!?!? $424.99 is only the down payment! $850.00 is way too much.

I missed that until I read your post.

That is a sweet frame set but entirely way too much money IMO.

I didn't want to go too far off the original topic, but the frameset the I wanted had a few custom details and custom dropouts; FBM charges extra for each little thing; just the custom F&F dropouts added $300 (included in the $1200 price).  I went with Standard, but it wasn't all that much cheaper.  My point is that custom-made American stuff can be more expensive than the Race Inc frameset.

Imo too much $$$ for just a f&f. Looks like a cash grab as usual. They should just make 100 and see what they fetch on Ebay

Re: Thoughts on Race Inc. 26 re-issue?!

So they have sold/reserved already around 40+ of those retro overseas made framesets in matter of 2 weeks?

I had my brandnew retro inspired 6061 Looptail PK-26 F&F for sale over here in Holland - for many months(!) - and I didn't manage to sell it for less than 400 including some stuff, heck not even a serious response. lol
Maybe apple/oranges, I know, but still...the specs & looks are pretty good too of the PK at half that price.

Edit: now that I think about it, that nice display box that comes with it for sure helps with the sale.

Re: Thoughts on Race Inc. 26 re-issue?!

seein that all of this "skunkwerks" style frames have been thought of, built, ordered....I mean make a list:

Goose
GJS - both bassett and Supercross
QUADS - Johnny chopper, SX, SAL, SE Retro
Haro - Masters, Bashguards, 20, 24, 26
Bassett
Stroker - Tru-torch
NOMOREA - SX
DG
Race Inc - Supercross & Race Inc
Hutch, 20, 24, 26, 29, Trickstars....

Who else? I mean to each their own, but When will enough be enough? Is there really a deep market for $850 retro framesets. I doubt these will see Kappa Money, as my thought revolve around them being a first style of retro framesets.....#provemewrong, lol...

I am curious as to some thoughts here. Add to my list as well.

Retros will stop being made when the demand goes away.

Re: Thoughts on Race Inc. 26 re-issue?!

It's a great set, just can't see that price point. Should also have bars included, $700 total frame, fork, bars, pads... then they'd be much closer to selling out the run imho. I'd be interested in their logic/math as I dont remember any other retro f/f close to this price?

Good point.  There's a shop out here that carries BMX parts and has several old bikes in their rafters, including one of Gary Ellis' bikes; I could definitely see shops like that, that attract the old school and/or "racing dad" crowd having a box on display in the store.

I may have Beene. Bit more tempted, if there were anodized offerings. Seems kinda lame' to powder them, it's is supposed to be retro...

Yeah, a 24" or even a 20" would be better, but I still wouldn't pay $850 for either. Kind of pricey.

I just looked at their website. Apparently they made 24's (sold out) . I didnt even know this company was making a comeback till today
20" as well

I met Chris (the owner of Race Inc) at the Grands about 3 or 4 years ago and actually helped sticker some of the first batch of 20s. The 24s are completely awesome. They're also making DJs as well and look just as sick as the rest of their bikes. I like the 26s but I'd prefer if they were made here in the US of A

I love building bikes just so I can go scratch them..
