Thoughts on Race Inc. 26 re-issue?!

Hmm, what do you think of this project?

https://www.raceincbmx.com/products/26- … mIxNd2QiMg

The ML-26 is named in honor of Mickey Lundy – Race Inc.’s longest sponsored rider.
All orders will require a 50% down payment ($424.99) and will allow customers to secure the serial number of their choice (first come, first serve). The remaining balance must be paid before final shipment – you will be sent a final invoice ($424.99 plus shipping/taxes) by email once your shipment is ready. Pre-ordering will end April 7, 2019.  Once the down payment is made, we will contact each customer to determine frame and fork color selection, t-shirt size, etc.

The price for it is decent enough for what you get.

What!?!? $424.99 is only the down payment! $850.00 is way too much.

Seems pretty cool, I’d some day like to do a build like this at some point.

Re: Thoughts on Race Inc. 26 re-issue?!

I like the idea of it, always loved Race, Inc.  The price is a little out of hand, the manufacturing cost can't be that high given the materials involved.  If there is a retro 26 that will turn heads more heads and be as light as this one, I would like to see it.  All in all I think it's about as Rad as it comes for 2019.

Re: Thoughts on Race Inc. 26 re-issue?!

I was excited to see their teasers for this awhile back. However, now seeing $850 for Taiwan made? Not so much. I get the limited run, and its awesome looking with the box, frame/fork/pads ... but for reference you can call FBM tomorrow or Laird, and get a handbuilt, American made custom frame for under $600. Or, get a beautiful Tange prestige frameset from Supercross under $400 (run of 115 total). JDB Hutch frames, also Taiwan made, frame/fork so apple/apple comparison $600 or less.

It’s cool and all, but that’s a good bit of money for a frame and fork..

They sold 15 already. Do you think they will reach 100 by April 7?

Re: Thoughts on Race Inc. 26 re-issue?!

Have to  imagine getting just a 100 framesets made would not be cheap. Throw in padset, decals and box it adds up.
SE can do a complete for same price because they do 1000's of bikes and just change color year after year. Guess if you want something really unique your gonna pay. Just my 2 cents.

As far as retros go, when did 24's get almost entirely ditched for 26's?

So true, not everyone wants a 26 or 29.

Maybe we're just old fashioned. Wait, no, retro....no that doesn't work either.

I don't know- maybe it's me, I don't have anything against 26's it's just kind of weird.

Did not see that! I thought it was the actual price.Ya that is too much for this. The company should just state the full price instead of messing around with this type of tactic.

Almost all the current retro 26 will turn heads.....even the SE wheelie rippers.

Agreed.  It's like those old television advertisements, stating that it's yours for 4 monthly installments of $19.95.  When the value is only $19.95.

This frameset and style of advertisement reminds me of IKONIX.

Yeah, a 24" or even a 20" would be better, but I still wouldn't pay $850 for either. Kind of pricey.

Race Inc is hopefully paying for a person in Taiwan to get a decent wage.  China made bike who knows what they are getting payed.
