Re: New Start New Town Help
Florida positives:
-Weather - best winter weather in the country
-Relatively good cost of living depending on where you live
-Perfect roads - no damage to your cars
-Never more than 60 miles from a beach
-Good sunrises and sunsets and you can do both in the same day
-Good for car enthusiasts - good roads, good weather etc.
-No state income tax if you're working
-Relatively cheap to register a vehicle (not sure if they still have the $400 impact fee on first registration)
Florida negatives:
-Lots of transplants - lots of rude NYers
-Shitty drivers
-Humidity in the summer
-Not much community vibe because most people are from somewhere else
-Not much geography
-Hurricanes depending on location
-Shitty drivers
-the death penalty
-very strange people
Places I would recommend living in Florida:
Tampa - lived there for a while, great food scene, great coffee and beer culture, amazing nightlife, not insanely overcrowded
Jacksonville - relatively normal, slower paced, friendly people for the most part, good food scene and coffee shops
I now live in North Carolina in RDU and we are overwhelmed by NY aholes - rude, terrible drivers, who have driven up the cost of living immensely.
I love North Carolina but the downsides:
-Cost of living is higher than expected
-Insane car registration fees - charge property tax on cars
-Terrible drivers lots of accidents
-Pretty hot summers if you don't like those
Good things:
-Great YMCA branches
-2 hrs to the beach 3 hours to the mountains
-Decent people in Wilmington and where natives live
-Good food in most places
-Outer Banks
Good luck wherever you end up.

Re: New Start New Town Help
I'm looking at moving myself. Looking at Oklahoma your money can go along way in that state. Go look at some of the prices of homes.

this is spot on.
it's sad to see. CALI was my dream for years but it's so insane - the cost of living is undoable, the taxes, the feces in the streets, the rude people, wild fires, it's a great place to visit but that's it.
CALI used to be the beacon for the country. It's now Texas
Problem with Texas is Austin's roads aren't built for the population explosion. But Texas people outside of Austin are salt of the earth - so amazing and so loyal.

My son is living in Georgetown, Texas a suburb of Austin. He likes it. He is trying to get me to move around that area. But, I'm telling you to look at Oklahoma if money is important. Your money goes along way in OK.

Gotta a buddy that is relocating from Seattle to Fl.
He and wifey are looking for a house in Palm Coast Fl. (South of Jville...north of Daytona).
**edit...your price point is $500k.
I checked out real estate there earlier today and you seemingly can stretch the dollar there quite a bit more than Ft Lauderdale.
