Re: Tim Judge gets one of his original bikes back !

It is good that the good buddy gave it back.  It is too bad that the good buddy didn't take better care of it!  Thank goodness it can be restored!  Good for Tim Judge!  I met Tim Judge in New Bedford, MA at the local race track back in 83'.  I was so impressed by his engagement of just about every racer there and genuinely being a "down to earth" nice guy.  After the race, he took to the track to do some tricks.  It was the first time that I had ever seen a "bmx star" perform.  I took many pics, unfortunately with a crappy disk camera.

Re: Tim Judge gets one of his original bikes back !

TJ's been telling me about that for a while.  The other week when he got it, he was telling me it sat in a shed in Florida for all these years. It had been so long since he'd seen it he called so I could verify the top tube length, size etc off one of mine at home.

That was one of his prototype Judge frames. It was chrome, b/c while he was testing it, he didn't want people to see what he was riding if he could get away with it.  When he told Hutch this is the frame he wanted to go with.  They started making colors, and he gave that one to his friend.  He's held on to it since.

I am so glad he finally got his hands back on it.  I just hope all of it can be salvaged.  It's in pretty rough shape.

Imagine the restore will include a NOS set of grips....with that being said, sure a collector out there would pay a mint for the grips that TJ himself handled (restoration funds)

So sick!!!

Man, I hope whoever cleans it up doesn’t rechrome or refinish anything.  All it needs is a good OA bath and a little TLC.  Please don’t change out the grips either.  It’d be a sin if they change any of its originality.

All the history is right there.

That is indeed, a true friend. Other "friends" would have already sold it.

I'm just glad his friend never tossed this in the trash and decided to give it back to TJ.

That frame set has been known about withing the community for a long time. It had been sitting under a front porch or outside or something in Fl. for quite awhile. The owner knew Tim BITD and would not sell it as he thought it should go back to Tim. Glad to see they finally connected and it's now in Tim's hands!!!

If "Pat" knew it was of some significance i'm surprised it would be left to rot.
Very cool regardless.

He didn't know much about it, only that it was TJ's old race bike.
