1967 Schwinn Stingray

Stingray to Scrambler

I was just browsing through the classifieds and came across this for a decent price. When I went to pick it up turns out the seller was the original owner. His father purchased this bike from Roy’s Bike Shop in Upland, CA which is still open today. The cool thing I thought was this bike started out as a green ‘67 Schwinn Stingray Deluxe. After riding it for a few years the owner wanted a Scrambler but his father wasn’t going to buy him another bike, so he made his own. He painted it orange and rode it for another couple of years until his father thought he would surprise him and had the bike painted a metallic gold. He wasn’t happy and in the garage the bike went until he decided that bumping his head on the bike was getting old. The bonus is the bike still sports the original S2 rims with the 2 speed blue band kickback hub. Score!!! I just cleaned it up some. I might paint it orange one day like he wanted it ......lol
