Re: 1982 Patterson Racing Pro Long

Those decals are at least 1980, I think that is a Patterson long 1980 and up the Brent Patterson came after this one with the orange decals, I have at least 4 buddies i use to race with that rode for Patterson and I know their former frame builder very well nice bike.! I also have had almost every production Patterson made. And raced a Brent and a PR200. NCBZ

If that was a 1978 Patterson it would be nickel, i dont think they started chroming their frames until 1980. Not positive though. I have some original Patterson ads from back in the day. NCB by the way Brent did ride that frame. NCB

Re: 1982 Patterson Racing Pro Long

Chrome Pattersons came out in 1982. The Patterson long kit was tested in the April 1982 issue of BMXA. The article talks about the development of the frame. It has good info. The frames were made by Trackmaster. When Patterson reintroduced them in 1982 (Previous builder couldn't deliver, the article says, so there was a period when they were unavailable.), besides chrome, they also got the holes in the chainstay gussets and a round brake bridge (can't see yours). Sometime in 1983 or 1984, I think, they moved production to GT.

The new frames were available in long and standard. Yours is a long.

It's the same frame as featured in the article. By that time, Patterson also offered forks. You can find the article at mag23.com. There are a bunch of downloadable PDFs of BMX issues. April 1982 is one that is available.

I posted the article here. You might need a membership to OS to see it though.

Nice frame. I road that frame too. not a 1978 1982 at the earliest. Gt was my favorite. Thanks for posting such a cool frame.

Re: 1982 Patterson Racing Pro Long

Trackmaster made the first flat track motorcycle frames. I have the magazines with the Patterson tests and articles as well.
