1976 Redline Squareback

Brought back from the dead

I purchased the F&F almost 15 years ago. It was a mess when I got it. Seat post was seized. The nickel was changed to Chrome and it was a horrible job. Midschool sticker kit on it. Along with trashed dropouts. After numerous attempts to remove the seat post with chemicals and force. I shelved the project for many years. Finally I locked the frame onto my drill press after cutting the portion of the seat post that was above the seat tube. And I used a 12'" long 3/4" and 13/16" drill bits to drill out the remaining post. It was a slow process but I got it all out. The last bit of the post locked onto one of the bits and came out in a big piece. After that I began the repairs and the renickel process. The Forks are non drilled. And the build includes some N.O.S and reworked bits. Weinmann 20x2.125 7B rims with Phil Wood hubs. campagnola cranks and HTI rat trap pedals. Carlisle Aggressor front and Cheng Shin rear tire. A machined down fluted seat post from .875 (7/8") to .845 . Then it got polished. Redline double clamp stem. 27" V bars with preston petty works grips. Mesinger seat and Dia compe brakes. It was a fun build. Not perfect at all. But enjoyable
