2019 Haro Master

I keep seeing discussions on the 2018 Flatland Master thread so I decided to leave that thread alone and start this one.

I've seen some of the facebook photos.  It'll be interesting to see what this bike looks like once unveiled.  My other interest is in whatever else is getting released from the Lineage retro line.  Are they going to do any cool 26" versions?

Re: 2019 Haro Master

John told me they re did the bash part to make it seamlessly smooth to the back tire and it's a vast improvement.  Should be interesting.  I saw one spy pic.  Looked tight.

Re: 2019 Haro Master

It looks relatively similar to the OG, yet some really cool differences. The guard is completely different than the OG and will actually do its job this time around, it protects the chain, sprocket, the guard stays and wont destroy your tire if you do any slides on it at all. The bolts will actually hold this time as well and wont be water bottle cage bolts like last time. Personally I think everyone will be quite pleased when they see the final product next week at interbike. If you want to see a subtle hint at what Brett is referencing with the tire being almost integrated into the guard, take a look at my instagram and you may get a little idea.

Re: 2019 Haro Master

Yup, I like the whale tail and how wide the guard is.  Bitd, the aluminum one was terrible and mine didn't stay on long.  Like has been mentioned, the OS design caused you to get caught behind the guard.  This one will be doing a lot of protecting.  Chain will be clear too.  John is the man!

Re: 2019 Haro Master

I'd say the guard is somewhere around 3-3-1/4" wide.

Re: 2019 Haro Master

This may be the best interpretation of all the retro Haro's.  Vintage guys and Lineage guys are going to love it.

Re: 2019 Haro Master

Are 1989 and 1990 Haro Master the same? Kinda like how the 87 and 88 Masters are the same but just different paint schemes?

Re: 2019 Haro Master

No, they aren't. The bashguard design is different, the 89 is pretty much a half circle, where the 90 is flat and was pretty much useless.

Re: 2019 Haro Master

I cant wait to see the gear sizes and if it has a freecoaster.  All the bashguard riders did Abubaca's....

Excited to see the reveal at Interbike!

Raddest part about 1990's was the Zolatone paint.  I think they tried to fix the rounded 89 bash in 90 with the flat bottom but I don't remember 90 Bash Masters being very popular.  89 Bullys seemed to be popular and might have taken some spotlight in the mags.  I think some bolt on bashguards came onto the scene too.  It seemed like all the Haro vert riders except Blyther went with the 89 bash, I think?  I think Hoffman did the fakie backflip on an 89 bash on one of the first Ride covers, but I cant remember now.

Good info, thanks. Lots of nice retros coming out these days! I'm patiently waiting for the 2021-22 Ground Master remakes.

Re: 2019 Haro Master

Blyther had a chrome 89 Sport/single top tube Master bashguard prototype like mine. I think he pretty much did the same as I did and stopped riding it relatively quickly since the prototypes were so unbelievably heavy. I know our setups were relatively similar, and mine was around 37lbs back then which was pretty ridiculous.

Oh yeah, I remember a pic or 2 now.  Wilkerson had the red, you and Blyther had/have the chrome.  A single to dual top tube frame-only in chrome would be rad as an option...

Re: 2019 Haro Master

Will it ACTUALLY come with chrome, not polished wheels?
