Re: whats the farthest you road a BMX bike and why did you do it?

Around 10-15 miles every day one summer when I was 14. Would get up, ride to the next town over, and ride all day with a bunch of other guys that did the same. I didn't even know the names of most of them, but there was always a crowd at a few "spots" in the area with a mini track that was built in on of the parks and other jumping spots. Also a quality 7-11 parking lot for the freestyle kids. Good times.

I ride the Ms 150 City to Shore ride almost yearly on this:  https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/33225/imag1958_15b84d93a99.jpg

I log all the rides I do on Strava now  so here's last year's ride: https://www.strava.com/activities/1198089133

I did a Cancer ride also last year and 3 Irish pub your de Shore rides.  The recent Irish pub ride: https://www.strava.com/activities/1735857819
I train and ride a good distance of 50+ miles usually every weekend.

And why.  It makes feel good about myself.  Hearing "how you riding that all this way" over and over makes me want to ride this 20" bike even more.  I averaged 17mph on the last tour de Shore.  As I seen people downshifting like Mack truck on such little hills New Jersey has and blowing right passed these people on my single speed just makes me laugh..

I did the Philly to the Shore rides also a few times in the 90's on a 20" Haro Sport. Though I did use a derailleur and a 5 speed wheel. Was about 70mi or so. I will say my ass hurt like a SOB the next day. If I were to do it again, I'd probably use a banana seat. Definitely not a Dominator....lollol

Oh, and for the car guys, the car that hit me was a Buick Grand National.

That’s funny since I have a GN. If it was the front of the car that hit you at least the fiberglass probably shattered and didn’t hit you with the full brunt haha.

Back to on topic matter....I’ve done about 25 miles in one shot on my Kink Empire and on my T1 Barcode. Went riding with a buddy who’s got a road bike. He would smoke me on any sort of incline but I could keep pace with him on flat. And the first time I did that ride with him (when I was on the Kink) I did the whole thing standing up as I didn’t bring any tools with me to put my seat up. That was a beating but felt good when I was done too haha.

Used to do 18-25 daily to go to work landscaping and then to band practice. Longest single day was probably 55 round trip when a bunch of friends & myself rode from Toms River to Bike World in Howell (now Scotty Cranmer's shop) to see Bob Haro & Bob Morales on the first ever freestyle show tour

the bikes feel bigger / taller when you ride a 22 Vs a 20". so the seat dos not need as much height.

cbr..u might be thinking of toptube length. yes, in most cases a frame with a  22" tt will be longer than a frame with a 20" tt.  But when u compare a 22" rim and a 20" rim, the 22" is taller.  Therefore, in theory the 22" bike would be taller, from a wheel standpoint.  If u put taller bars on the 20" then it may be taller than the 22" at their highest points.  I might be wrong but that's how i see it.

We used to ride 30 miles to get to the track, race all day, then ride back 30 miles to get home. probably totaled 100 miles in 1 day and my skinny legs were not even feelin it. These days I ride 2 ft off the carpet and I'm having cramps!

With a set up like this it's just like a Road Bike so what's most important is the distance between the seat and the pedals which is why Road Bikes are measured in seat tube length. On a BMX the seat tube length is going to be determined by geometry more then the size. For instance my 24'' has a shorter seat tube then my oldschool Kuwahara 20''.

Bigger wheels would make it a little faster and easier to pedal long distances but that doesn't seem to be an issue for the rider of that bike.

Bike - stock Haro Shredder with a hard plastic seat.

Reason - a dare that derived from some banter.

Distance - 34 miles (there and back) no rests as we did it at midnight and wanted to get back before traffic.
