Re: Rest in Power: Jason Parratt — bird

I'm sorry to hear about Jason's passing, my condolences go out to all his friends and family.  I didn't know Jason really well, but was able to get re-acquainted with him in the last couple of years via the museum.  Jason was a super generous guy and he hooked me up a couple of times with some much needed Tahoe stickers.  I met up with Jason a couple of times at the Crown Point, IN. bike shows and it was last year I remember talking with him and recalling that I new him as a kid.  He was several years younger than me, so we didn't race against each other, but we both rode for the same bike shop team when we were kids.  I remember Jason was a great racer then and had a lot of courage and confidence on a bike.  And the cool thing is his love of the sport and his will to compete never wavered, and I totally respect that.  He always did things 100% or not at all. Jason my friend, you will be greatly missed.  RIP Bird!

Re: Rest in Power: Jason Parratt — bird

Such sad news!   Prayers go out to Kristi, and his boys.   He was a great father to his kids, him being a big kid himself.   Those boys were his little "MINI-MEs", they were carrying on his legacy while he was here, and they will carry it on now that he's gone.

Another BMXMUSEUM brother gone too soon!

*STAFF, would you kindly let this ride in Catchall for a bit?  I’d really appreciate it.

Brothers and sisters, just got off the phone with Caleb and Ted, confirmed by family on Facebook, and learned that Jason Parratt, aka bird, died of a heart attack while track racing his car tonight.  I’m franking in disbelief over here.  This one really hurts, as Jason was a great father and friend.

He’s pictured here on the right, behind me.  This was during this summer’s XTCX Ride.

I’m asking that the community pay tribute to a great man and member of the BMX community through anything positive — memories, pictures, whatever — about him.  WHEREVER YOU ARE, RIDE ON IN POWER!!!

Unreal. I'm stunned.
Jason was one of the very first guys I had met when I got back into bikes.
Always willing to help and answer questions.
He was a great person, father and friend. You will be greatly missed Bird.
If I had not had him as a friend, I would've wanted him as a brother.

I haven't posted in some time, really blows that it's for this. Bird was one of the greats for sure, always quick to share a nip off the jar and a story. I for one am gonna have a hard time moving on from this one. Ride in Paradise my brother, and know we're all looking out for the little Birds.

Re: Rest in Power: Jason Parratt — bird

I sit here, numb, typing thru tears.....
Jason was everything that people have said he is already in this thread, but he was also much more than that.......more than any words can describe.....
He was one of those people that truly made the world a better place, and made the people around him want to be better people!  He didn't just repel negativity, he somehow dissolved it.  He was one of the greats, not just on this site, but in life.
The bmx museum, and 44t flags all fly at half mast today
If you want to honor Jason, try to live like him, at least for a day.  Make sure your kids KNOW you love them, don't be afraid to give them a hug for no reason.  Live each day as if it could be your last, because it might be.  None of us know when were going to check out, and all the money in the world can't buy you one more minute, so make your time count

Love you bird, I miss you already brotherhttp://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/39961/20170630_1902075b6ed69b3e.jpg

Remember....if everyone came to a bike show without a bike, it would just be a bunch of dudes standing around in a park...and that's just creepy!  If you've got one, bring one.  -Me

Re: Rest in Power: Jason Parratt — bird

Wow, what a heart-breaking thing to happen. A few years ago, my wife & I had been lucky enough to make it a couple of Indiana shows. The pre-getogether included so many great members as well as a few who aren’t on the site. One of the truly inspiring ppl was Jason. Him & his whole family were there & made the gathering very enjoyable & entertaining. My heart goes out to the family he has left behind. You will be missed Jason!
