1986 Haro FST

My Grail!

In 1986 I fell in love with a Red FST at my local Schwinn shop.  I spent an entire summer cutting grass, doing odd jobs for neighbors and saving every penny I had for this bike.  After the summer was over I had just a tad more than half of what the bike sold for.  My mom, after watching me work so hard coughed up the rest of the money so I could get it.  I am not exactly sure how she came up with it because we didn't have much growing up.  I was able to enjoy the bike for two whole years before it was stolen from me while working a charity event.  I was devastated and never seen it again.  Fast forward to 2018.  I was talking to my teenage daughter about the things I loved when I was her age and my FST came up.  It re-fired the passion that I use to have and I made a decision.  I am going to rebuild my bike.  After working on a few midschool bikes I built for my kiddos I felt I was ready to tackle the challenge.  I bought every single piece from fellow page members.  I sent the frame, forks and stem plate to Chip at C4 Labs for powder and decals.  I felt like a kid again when I opened that box and seen the workmanship.  It was impeccable!  After weeks and weeks I finally got the bike together and the finished product is what you see here.  This is exactly how my bike looked and that is exactly how I wanted to build it.  I feel accomplished knowing that I was able to grab a hold of a piece of my childhood that was taken from me.  I would like to thank every single member who helped me with my project.  I would especially like to thank member Chromey and Goosedaddy1987.  And lastly, I actually would like to thank my local bike shop Clarkville Schwinn especially my friend LC who helped rebuild one of my calipers and ran my brake lines.  I am enjoying looking at this every day and I hope you all enjoy it to.
