Looks like you nailed the sprocket. What's the gearing on this bike?

The gearing is 39t front and 16t rear. The cranks that came on the bike are 140mm.  Pretty short but we'll see how they look I guess. Tires are 1.75

What life without dedication?  Great endeavor, this thread is why I love the museum so much. Can’t wait for the progress. You are blowing it out of the water young blood!  Will you take these builds all the way to the bike with training wheels on it that older brother goes flying off into the woods?

I would really like to get the little sis bike.  Have not even seen one online yet.  If anybody finds one let me know.

Nice. That's what I was thinking it is. Really diggin all the info and details about your project!

The real story about nowoldschool is I bought an Elm Street tire. Later I got a message saying he wanted $10 more through Friends and Family or he would cancel the sale. I left a neutral feedback about it and he returned a neutral. I asked to have it removed, but had to agree to his being wiped too. After my pro membership expired I left a negative for how it went down.

Re: The Goonies bike build (All of them)

But waaait a minute.  How could I get flames from that?  Here are some screen shots of the chain guard.  They're not very clean shots but if you look you will see flames on the chain guard and even downtube. https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/56712/20180722_0254245b6631438e.jpg

Re: The Goonies bike build (All of them)

Wheels are ready for paint, frame is ready for paint. I bought an airbrush gun and line but I may go to a real airbrusher for the work on the flames.  I could try but the original work was most likely done by a person with a less exhausted hand than mine.  I have No time with an airbrush so lets make it good. smile

Re: The Goonies bike build (All of them)

So looking through this thread I actually learned some things about the bike.

I actually think you are onto something with the flames. I thought that was rust on the chain guard but it looks like more flames.

The hardest thing to find will be the Fx20fs handlebar pad. It was taken off Data's bike and placed on mikey's and just rolled backwards to hide the print. I have been looking for a long time and they don't come up ever. Trust me I have looked for years.

I used the long reflector as seen in this shot.

I have the wrong chainguard but that will be easy to replace.

It's not about owning the nicest things. It's about getting to play with them.

Nice build man!  cool  You are right on with the reflector.  They used Stimsonite reflectors.  I have a nice black one for the rear but could only find a white one for the front so far.  I'll be painting the white one for now.  I do have a set of pads that I think will work if I can find someone do modify them a bit and If I can find or make a blue set to screen print.
