I'll join in on this. This is what's left of my 83 600a that I got summer of 83.

RB 01382 - 1984 Redline 102b (May possibly be a 82 or 83) (Redline Hotdog stamp)
RB 01693 - 1982 Proline II (has No gusset behind seat, CS bridge)

Sounds about right...

Curious what RH00179 leads me to. By the list (and stickers on the bike) it's a 600A, but can I narrow the year down more than 1982-1985 as the bikes posted here range?

Looks to have a lot of different components on it.  Also curious if someone has an OE parts list.

Looks to be a 1983:

RH 00726 - 1983 Redline 600a (Redline Oval stamp, NO CS bridge)
RH 07118 - 1983 Redline 600a
RH 00250 - Unknown Year, Redline 102b

So I got either a 1983 600A, unless there's more details I can find to help the search.  Does have the oval stamp under the serial as well.

Was RH always 1983 or something else?

CS bridge..what am I looking for there?

cool

Well, that makes it a 1981...

Is it a MX-II or MX-III?

81 would be an MX-II. I believe the 600a marked the crossover from II to III with some of the first 600a's having an actual MX-II frame. I think mine is an early one, but I have not done anything to verify which frame I have. It does have the tab.

Bought this Redline years ago off of craigslist. Any idea what year/ model it is? Guy that sold it to me had repainted it. Has 800P decals.

Re: Redline Serial Numbers

Hi, I’m trying to help positively identify an old Redline for my brother-in-law.

He forgets if he got it in ‘80 or ‘81.  He thinks it was a Proline or something to that effect...

It’s chrome, has a v-bar handlebar, red Redline decals and the serial number is RA 08730.

(I’d submit a picture but I’m a new member on my Cell phone so I don’t know if I can).

Any help would he appreciated!

if it's a RA serial Proline it will have the brazed rear dropouts, meaning, the weld will look smooth. it will also have the chainstay brace.

Re: Redline Serial Numbers

Hi guys, thanks for the info...

Here are a couple of photos of the bike (it's not in great shape as you can see) but he and I were talking about our vintage bikes (I have a 1989 GT Performer I'm keeping around for nostalgia) and he couldn't remember which model or exactly what year he got his bike.  (I am a bit younger than he is, so I can still remember some of these things :-))

As you can see he had some some modifications (the cranks are obvious) but I am not sure if / what else he might have removed or replaced back in the day.

According to the above list this 6 digit 1981 proline  1981 Redline Proline 2 (had NO gusset behind seat, and NO CS bridge)
Any idea where it was made ?

I got my Carrera in 1982 direct from the importer in Brisbane, I was given a choice of US made or Japan made as they had just started making them in Japan for the Carrera kit, they hadn't yet started making them in Australia at that point I believe. I got a US one even though I had to wait longer for it. The welds were cleaner on the US ones in the early days.
That chrome on yours looks really nice!
