I make mine from 5 gallon buckets, it’s nice and sturdy material. I cut the top and bottom unusable parts away and cut straight down the middle to end up with a piece I can force flat. I then use a heat gun to manipulate the plastic to lay a bit more flat, too hot will melt or discolor the plastic.

From there I lay the piece flat, nice side down on a towel and lay my bars face down and make a rough trace with a pencil or chalk pen (wipes off easy) then make adjustments by eye and cut it with good quality scissors and smooth the edges with 400-600 sandpaper carful not to scuff the face or rear.

Once I have the shape I like, I flip my bars face up and lay the plate on them and heat the edges and slightly conform it to the bars for a nice custom fit.

Hope that helps.

Yes that helps a lot. I have read about the bucket method. I will definitely give it a shot. Thank!!!
