GT GRAIL BUILD

HERE IS MY 87 TEAM MODEL. IT WAS IN ITS ORIGINALLY BLACK PAINT AND OG MAGENTA DECALS WHEN I GOT IT. THE PAINT WAS ROUGH WITH NO DENTS OR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. THE DECALS WERE EQUALLY FADED AND SCUFFED UP WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THEY WERE THE ORIGINALS MAKING IT A LEGIT TEAM MODEL.
THE FRAME SET WAS POWDERED WHITE BY MY FRIENDS AT BBD COATINGS IN SYRACUSE, NY. I CHOSE TO DO IT WHITE WITH THE MAGENTA DECALS. JUST TO BE DIFFERENT THEN THE OTHERS I LEFT THE STAMPED HANDLEBARS, STAMPED SEAT POST, AND GT FORK STANDERS IN OG CHROME. THEN I POLISHED THE TECH 7 LOCKING LEVER’S, THE 990 REAR CALIPER, THE GT SEAT CLAMP, AND ONE OF THE KEY PIECE’S THE DATED 87 GT POWER SERIES CRANK ARMS. THE GT POWER DISC IS A VERY NICE SURVIVOR AND WAS LEFT IN IT’S BARE FINISH. THE GT BLACK CHAINRING IS NOS W/ GT BOLTS. THE CRANK SET SPINS ON OG GT ULTRALITE BEARINGS AND CUPS. TO MAKE THE TEAM MODEL COMPLETE I RESTORED ANOTHER KEY PIECE OF THIS BUILD A SET OF SURVIVOR UKAI HOOPS LACED TO SURVIVOR OG 1ST GEN BLACK GT SUPERLACE HUBS. SINCE THIS IS A RIDER I CHOSE PANARACER TIRES AND AN IZUMI CHAIN INSTEAD OF THE ORIGINAL TIRES AND STAMPED CHAIN. THE BLACK GT SEAT WAS PURCHASED FROM A MEMBER AND IS IN AMAZING SHAPE AND WAS THE LAST KEY PIECE I NEEDED AND THE HARDEST PIECE TO FIND. ALL THESE PARTS WERE COLLECTED AND RESTORED OVER A 2 YEAR PERIOD.

BIG THANKS TO MY BROTHER IN LAW FOR PARTING WITH THE BEAUTIFUL OG 1ST GEN GT SUPERLACE HUBS W/ COLLARS AND HOLLOW AXLES. HE HAD THEM THROWN IN A BUCKET IN THE SHED FOR MANY YEARS. HE’S A HUGE REDLINE GUY SO THESE HUBS APPARENTLY MEANT NOTHING TO HIM. WE WORKED OUT A NICE TRADE AND THE HUBS WERE MINE. SO GRATEFUL

HOPE YOU LIKE AND CAN APPRECIATE ALL THE WORK THAT WENT INTO THIS THING

Re: 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team

I appreciate your hard work.

My Father once spoke to me and said "The way you look at your bike is the way I see My children, I look past the imperfections and rough surfaces to the beauty of the finished product."
