2018 Jayhawk Racing Pro XL

I call her Grape Speed

Here’s my custom built 20" Jay Hawk with the 1st Jay Hawk frame made for a rear disc brake application with the 1st Jay Hawk custom made caliper bracket / mount.
I met up with Jim (JayHawk owner) to discuss all the many options he was able to build the frame. Options included top tube length, rivets showing or flush, with or without gussets, hand brushed or machine polished finish... He got me thinking hard and after a while I thought why not go with a modern rear disc brake setup?! I ran the idea through him and it didn’t take long for him to agree. I told him what I wanted it to look like and from there it was off to the drawing board. I had to do some research to find which hub would fit and made to take a disc the same time being able fit the space around the dropouts without having to compromise the geometry of the frame. After several discussions, researching parts that had the correct size and clear the dropout we were getting closer. Weeks go by deciding which route to go about then finally Jim was able to make it a reality for me. So after hours of thinking, Jim drew up the prototype piece while I gathered up parts. Once he got the design down he began fabricating the prototype, test fitting, and modifying the piece until it worked. Here’s the end result..
* Almost done but still a few more tweaks need to be done like tucking in the brakeline maybe cutting it shorter too, decals, valve caps and other minor stuff..

Check out my 1983 VDC-built Trident, 1983 Kuwi Laserlite, 2011 Crupi race rig and prototype Quamen, plus the all things Crupi & old school scene in Japan threads. Always interested in buying used, mid-school race plates.

The Bomb! One of the best BMX builds I have ever seen. I would love to have this bike alongside my prototype British Planet X https://bmxmuseum.com/image/img_84425bde079f3b_blowup.jpg
