1983 Diamond Back Formula 1

My first BMX race bike.

The first bicycle my dad bought me to try racing BMX.  I was too small (and couldn't afford a Turbo or a Laserlite), and this was great.  I remember never being able to get the stem to tighten enough and the bars always seemed to move.  I put up a post on this site looking for one and RareAir had this one in great shape, he did a wonderful job with it!  I'm not an expert, but looks like most of the parts are close to original.  The hinged alloy stem, the original handlebars looked like the original Formula One bars, but I put an older set of GT bars on that were wider.  Suntour XC-II pedals, Sugino cranks, Formula One seat clamp, Dia-Compe 890 rear brake, Araya 7x rims, Suzue sealed hubs, Oakley B1-B grips (with the donuts).  Brings back great memories.

Without a doubt a VERY NICE example! Another member brought into the museum by dealing with Glenn "rareair". Glad to see another newbie DB owner!

Yup! He's the man or sure. I call on him first when I'm stumped.

Got another deal in the makings with him for a killer.

Bike turned out awesome! I love the number plate.

I never log off and I had to disable my screen saver because it was causing problems , making me have to restart my computer every time it kicked on. Please keep that in mind if you message me and I don't reply back right away. Thanks.

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my grandfather did–in his sleep. Not yelling and screaming like the passengers in his car.
