Re: Todays Ride.

Wednesday we were feeling the effects of riding for five days, but I was excited to be getting close to the end. We had a sunny sky and beautiful fall weather for the last day. Parts of the C&O canal are just beautiful as you get closer to Washington DC. We had another great lunch at White's Ferry just into Montgomery County MD. FOOD TASTED SO GOOD on this trip! We made our way to GeorgeTown. (55 miles) We fought our way though pedestrians and traffic making it to lock number one. We could not find mile marker zero and agreed our journey was at its end. Looking on Youtube the canal continues  3/10 of a mile. The Watergate hotel is named for the canal's inlet or "watergate" at the Potomac River. so we missed our goal by 3/10 of a mile.https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/226637/co-seven5da06e66bf.jpg

Re: Todays Ride.

LONG Critical Mass tonight.  Rode from United Center over to the Daley Center, then the ride took us all the way up to Evanston.  Evanston, for crying out loud!  After that, I made my way back to my car in United Center.  If I were to guess, I'd say I did about 40-45 miles.  Great times!

The ride featured stopping by two cemeteries.  I had to do a bit of climbing to get this shot from aperch a tall wrought iron fence that might very well have impaled me were I not careful:

Re: Todays Ride.

I went on a ride this morning before the rain came.  Perfect timing actually.  It started coming down just as I was loading up the bike in the truck.

"That LiL Holeshot I built a couple years ago that took Best Mini was a nice bike, but I'll bet most people didn't even see the greatest thing about it. The frame and fork was in awesome condition, and when I started to build it I found residue of car wax in the welds. That means at one time, long ago some little kid enjoyed that bike so much that he sat and stared at it while he waxed it to perfection. That's the kinda stuff I appreciate, and can relate to very well."  John De Bruin-6/21/09

We got a runner!:lol:Best time to ride right before the rain.brings back memories of riding around the neighborhood as  a youngn'  then hauling home as it started to sprinkle.then tearing it up in the mud once it stopped raining. There was this one down hill  dirt road that was  nasty as hell. Sorta clayish sandstone, slipperier than a mug.Getting home with the bike and I caked in mud.Good Times!,

Thanks .haven't cleaned it in a while .gotta detail it.Don't know the name of the ship , gonna have to take a closer look next time.Yes man a  beautiful place to ride.got out a bit late so only rode for about a good hr.had to leave early as i ran over a bunch of thorns.my  vehicle was parked about 3 miles away so I had to haul back before the bike went completely flat.made it to about a couple block then had to walk the rest.
