Re: Which 3 sponsored riders would you pick to ride with?

This is a great topic and a lot of great answers.

Summertime is the time of lists!

I'd say

Woody Itson cause he was so tech and my hero

Hoffman cause he was so freaking aggro

and my curveball is

Pat Romero cause he changed the way we all rode our bikes

Drive by Truckers - Shut up and get on the plane
Black Flag - My war
Jane's Addiction - My time
Misfits - Vampira
Overkill - Hell's getting hotter
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Call me the breeze
King Tee feat Tha Alkaholiks - I got it bad y'all
The Meatmen - French people suck

Re: Which 3 sponsored riders would you pick to ride with?

I've been thinking about this all day. It's a tough question. I'd like to include riders from the 80s when I grew up, but I think I'm going to go with Garrett Byrnes, Ruben Alcantara, and Chris Doyle.

Alternate choices would be Mike Dominguez, Pete Loncarevich, and Dizz Hicks.

I might not deliver when I say I will, but when I do it's always right on time.

I was invited to Kevin Robinson's 40th birthday surprise party.  The next day we went to Rye Airfield to ride the vert ramp.  I was on the deck with Robinson, Hoffman, DMC, Blyther, Dominquez, Xavier, Wilkerson , Johnson and Heino.

It was pretty surreal.

Dude, you have all the fun!  Very cool.  Joe Johnson?  Like tailwhip air Joe Johnson?

off the top of my head
Eddie Fiola is a good one. I  see him still riding at Huntington beach a lot. he still got it. so ya he's on my list!

#2 Kevin Jones I always dug the way he road a bike any bike not just BMX.

#3 David Weathersby a sick smooth rider

but I have been lucky. living were I do. I got/get to ride and hang out with more than a few pros over the years. do to them riding the same spots I try to ride.

Re: Which 3 sponsored riders would you pick to ride with?

I'm thinking Brian Foster and DMC. I don't think DMC ever rode dirt and I'm not a street guy..... but he's DMC and that's all that needs to be said. If wishes were fishes, Colin Winkleman but there are too many others. Chris Doyle would definitely be someone I'd love to ride with and Chase Hawk. Though I suppose it wold be more like "Who would you pose with your bike with?" More than "Who would you ride with?" smile

Re: Which 3 sponsored riders would you pick to ride with?

I think Foster and DMC would be cool guys to hang with at some park or some low key trails and just have a real chill session with more shooting the breeze with some riding thrown in. Winkleman seemed like a pretty cool guy as well, but they are all guys with flow. I can appreciate guys like Drew Bezanzen but the new breed seems to throw out bangers and set up for the next while Foster will just go fast and flow riding everything like he's laying down a blanket. Chase Hawk is a super smooth rider as well.... Still, DMC is DMC!

I guess in the end, if I'm turning pro it would me Foster DMC and ME! big_smile

Re: Which 3 sponsored riders would you pick to ride with?

yup, my 3 picks for an all day flatland day would be Kevin Jones, Martin Aparijo and Rick Allison.  Kevin for the sick riding and rolling tricks, Martin for the more old school variations, and Rick for his stylish moves and I can see all three riding, smiling and cutting up as we made a day hanging out.

Re: Which 3 sponsored riders would you pick to ride with?

DMC and Mirra are in a class of their own, imho.  Kevin Jones, Andrew Farris and Matt Wilhelm all deserve a nod too.

I'd probably pick Lord Voelker (he was a god on X-Games street BITD).  Nyquist or Fuzzy.  And because nobody else has mentioned him yet--Tim Knoll.

Stu, Andy Ruffel, Fiola and  Krys Dauchy tongue Sorry, picked four.

I was fortunate enough to have the "dream job" of head mechanic and counselor at Woodward during the summers of 86, 87 and a nano-second in 88. I rode, partied and traveled with a number of the big names of this era and have great memories--and stories for a trusted few that I know wouldn't spill the beans. Krys Dauchy was there during this time and was a pretty chill person, considering all the attention she got.

Some of the names include Miranda, King, Poulson, Baumert , Harris, Guinn, Aglio, Lanthorne, Blood, Segur, etc. There were a lot of banging Ams that came through with the pros. Cullinan, Cuningham, Hendler were a few and then there were the freestyle kids that started breaking out while there at the camp or coming through. Obermeyer, Gratolla, Gullo, Johnson, etc.

That's actually a really tough question but i think a day with Scotty Cramner, big boy and Trey Jones would be a blast.
