Re: Vintage mountain bikes.Whos gottem??

It's no whitelarrybird Yeti but I picked up this today. I'm thinking it's a 94-97 ARC. It's got the dreaded headtube crack and a couple small dents on the toptube and downtube. But the cranks and stem are sweet. I'm not sure if it's a FTW welded one though. Does anyone know how to find out?

Don’t think there’s a way to tell if FTW physically welded a frame, and the serial numbers don’t tell you much about the year.

What are your plans for it?

The cranks and forks are going to go onto other projects of mine. The wheels and other stuff are cheap that'll all just go to my local bike co-op. The frame was just going to be garage art unless you want to buy it!! lol

Re: Vintage mountain bikes.Whos gottem??

Finished my 1990ish Fat City Cycles - Wicked Fat Chance for a "ride with the family" bike.  Picked up bike off Craigslist for $200 with some missing parts.  Many thanks to C4 Labs to making it look awesome again. Was going to build as a single-speed but decided to go with a 1x setup to help with hills around here.  Second bike in my quiver made in Massachusetts.

I already robbed the pedals from it. They are the nicest I have ever seen!

Hmmm, that's bizarre.
Every one of those bikes I've scored has had cartridge bearing hubs.
They were the rubber seal over a cartridge bearing.
From first glance they appear to be looseball, but are actually double sealed.

Any love for trials? Picked up this Japan-made Ibis Mt. Trials a while back. It's supposed to a be trials bike that you could still ride tech trails on. 24" rear/26" front. I've since put riser Profile Designs DH bars, ditched the bar ends, and put a period correct Specialized seat on it.  http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/39036/2019-04-11-16.31.575de44b83bf.jpg
