Re: Pro size bars on a cruiser?

I think expert bars are a better option than pro bars but either way I would run an invert stem.

Are you thinking about pro bars cuz of the cost?  If so there are some affordable cruiser bar options like CW, powerlite, and schwinn predator bars.

Personally, KOS bars are my hands down favorite on any early 80s cruiser.

Re: Pro size bars on a cruiser?

Cool thread.  I just purchased a cruiser frame and was thinking of using a set of pro bars I bought a while back on it.  I'll have to wait and see how they look together, but I like the looks of the bikes you guys are posting up.

Re: Pro size bars on a cruiser?

Trooper - fine day to you my friend.

For all my cruisers I swap out the 'cruiser' low rise bars to something taller.
If I was going to be racing I'd leave the cruiser bars but for anything else.....

You can see on all my bikes, except the DJ....

I look for a medium rise.
Not sure tall CW bars would suit me, but I'd have to try it......

Re: Pro size bars on a cruiser?

I've never really understood the point of cruiser bars or why a slightly bigger bike would need low profile cruiser bars...

Plus I hate how low profile cruiser bars look

Really only makes sense to me on the smaller cruisers when you have a small person on a bigger bike

Re: Pro size bars on a cruiser?

I like using S&M grand slam xlt w/8" rise on my 24"s since i use Perfect 10s on my 20"s so they're same geometry. Plan on using 9" Hoders on my 22"s.

Trooper here is what you need . If you can find them.
S&M Bruiser bars. Reasonably cheap great chrome job. They feel just right. Bigger than normal cruiser bars. And dont look out of place, like in my opinion pro bars on a cruiser look. If that makes any sense.

Hey if its for cruising you might as well make it as comfortable as possible with larger pro bars and a more comfortable seat. I would even consider a few extra gears for some added fun!

I was just going to suggest them as well. 6.5" rise.

Hmmm, why would they do that       lol   tongue

Re: Pro size bars on a cruiser?

We're all a little bigger now than we were at 15 (some of us too much wink ) so yeah, gunna +1 bigger bars for your kickabout bike. I was always thought the idea behind running such small bars on cruisers was to try to set up your 20 and 24 to be as similar in feel as possible when switching back and forth, so since you're not bringing two bikes to the track, go for it.

I''ve been trying to find an excuse to buy these just becasue you never see them (whether they're the same supplier as '84 Predator or not who knows, but definitely cool and different). Shipping hurts from Europe, but that's life.

Re: Pro size bars on a cruiser?

As a 6'-1" / 205 lbs adult, 8" bars not only make the 24" bike look correct in proportions, they make a 24" bike fit and feel like a 20" used to BITD !!!

8" Fly Racing signature bars with a Profile Front Load Stem.
