To celebrate the life of our dear friend @davemirra we will be releasing this @harobmx Mirra Pro with our partner @mirraco check out the Haro website for more details. This bike was built on what Dave would ride today, 14 pounds lighter with 2-piece bars. I can't wait to ride one. Here is my Y2K next to the new 2017 Mirra Pro.

Re: 2017 HAro Mirra pro.. 17 pounds lighter!!

That's a significant weight drop.

Interested to see specifics on how they accomplished that.

My wifes new car shaved off 40lbs over last years by not coming standard with a spare tire and jack....

Re: 2017 HAro Mirra pro.. 17 pounds lighter!!

wow, 26.5 pounds!  The geometry is awesome looking at the specs.

Here's what I find most awesome about this tribute bike:

"Now, to honor Dave Mirra, Haro is releasing a 2017 tribute Dave Mirra bike, with a bulk of the sales proceeds going directly to the Mirra family. It is but one more way for BMX to continually honor the life, legacy and greatness of Dave Mirra, and all that he gave to his family, friends and BMX as a whole. And it's proof positive that the memory of Dave Mirra will remain with all of us for a long time to come. "

That is so cool! John and Haro have yet again hit it out of the park.  Well done!

Re: 2017 HAro Mirra pro.. 17 pounds lighter!!

Well let's think about this for a minute...the new frame is probably at least 3 pounds lighter than the Y2K, from around 8 to around 5 pounds. Mid school steel pegs were about a pound a pair, so there's two more right there.  The fork is likely a pound or more lighter, the wheels a pound or so too, maybe 2 pounds for the drivetrain, maybe a pound savings for new school seat/post/clamp assembly, bars, maybe a 1/2 pound savings?, a machined stem would save a 1/4 pound or so.  What else am I missing?

^ D1976, I think you got it down to about right.  I was going to say weight saved with a way shorter chain... but you already covered that with "drivetrain"

Streetbeatbeast- The mega fork sucked. It was a brick. You can't do oversized legs anymore and with the modern smaller diameter tubing you can't do the cut out for the peg.

When I first saw this I told John to make the seat available aftermarket. He said he was already on it. Awesome.

This is just a sample bike guys. I got to see photos of this beautiful bike before John released this photo. Theyre are some things that will be added to production models. Stay tuned guys. John is a perfectionist and he wants the do Daves legacy right.

There is truth to this, they were a pain to run anything but haro pegs, and heavy.  They did look awesome tho.  Also...they are building a new school bike, not a midschool bike.  Certainly some things needed to be removed.  I think it's a great tribute bike, some things I would like different, but it's awesome.

Uhm, how big are those tires??hmm
and why isnt it left hand drive? I know Dave didnt really ride it yet in 2000, but its kinda iconic..

Look, heres the thing straight up..Im more of a purist. So if its too different, It doesnt do it for me. The other thing is, Ive messaged john so many times in the past asking about bikes and product. Ive seen him reply to so many others, but hes NEVER ONCE taken a moment to show courtiousy to reply to me..and frankly Ive taken issue with that.
Im a straight shooter. I call it straight up.
