1981 GJS A Frame

My Holy Grail - The one that got away!

1981 GJS - The one that got away

Back in 1981, I purchased my first GJS A frame from a local shop called Advanced Trickery in Glenview Illinois.  I paid slightly over $100  with taxes and was thrilled to have this uniquely designed chrome beauty as my main ride.  On the way home, my Mother decided that $100 was just too much for a frame and she turned the car around and made me return it.  I then purchased my Supergoose for about $15 less and it became my rider for the years to follow.  Since that day, I had always wanted a GJS.  I have seen them available but always felt that the cost was just above what I was willing to pay.  I decided to take a chance and put up a request in the Wanted section on BMX Museum and in May of 2016 my dream came true.  A member offered me a gorgeous chrome A frame at a very agreeable price.  Within a week, she was all mine.
Since this was "the one that got away" on me.  I decided to build this to the best I could (within reason) and I thing it turned out great!

Dang! You had the frame in the car, on the way home and Mom turns the car around and makes you take it back to the shop. Dang!

Well, being a mongoose guy ain't so bad. The blue and orange combo you have on this build absolutely screams GJS to me - love it.

Thanks.  I have had a few people tell me to lose the orange but its here to stay.  My bike, my colors.
