1996 Mongoose Supergoose Comp
This is my first bike purchase with my own money. Saved up money working at a gas station to get it. Wanted something light and ended up with a new aluminum Mongoose Supergoose Comp. I was naive of what all was out there way better than this but you live you learn. Road it here and there and then it started to show rust on the chrome and the hub bearings seazed up so I decided to update her. Always wanted a race bike with skinnies. Admittedly this was another learning experience because there are several things Id do to shave more weight. It currently weighs round 20lb. Parts are as follows):

I hate to be picky, but this is a Supergoose Pro.
Stickers are correct
The Supergoose frame has the rear rectangular box drop out like the menace (same geometry) only in Alloy instead of Chromo. (Menace). Supergoose's weren't available till '98.
I have been trying to sort out all the mis named Mongoose cruisers (even thought this one isn't a cruiser) here in the museum.
Pet peeve is mis named/stickered examples in the museum.

Not sure about that. I bought it new in 95 i believe. I may still have receipt somewhere. If I can find that I can be solid on the year. When I restomodded it I didn't change a thing on the frame. The frame is OG stickers and all. Looks like there may be several bikes in the wrong year from 95-97. I'll look for that receipt.

Don't have any documentation any more so I looked into the serial number and it shows to be a 1996 build so I bought it late 96 or early 97.

I don't doubt the year at all, that is correct.
I can't see the sticker that well on the top tube, but it looks like it says 'Pro' in red below the Supergoose.
I have been trying to sort out the mid school mongoose naming mess for a while.
I am into the 24"cruisers, so I haven't even really dove into the 20" mess.
I have made the incorrect assumption that the 24's and the 20's would have used the same naming convention already.
Not being a 24", I haven't looked enough to be sure.
But here's a shot of the '97 Catalog, showing the '97 SuperGoose PRO
.
The '97, as seen and documented in the '97 catalog had a 1 1/8" head tube.
I haven't found a '95 or '96 catalog to document, but I believe they were the 1" like yours.
Othe model Mongoose's hed tubes went from 1" to 1 1/8 just after '95/'96
There is no Supergoose (Non Pro) listed in the '97 catalog, and didn't show up till '98.

The Supergoose (Non Pro) always had the 1 1/8" head tube.
Here's the '98 catalog shot of the 24's where you can see the Supergoose is the same geometry as the Menace only in Alloy. 
Yes I believe yours to be '95/'96 Supergoose Pro with a 1" head tube.
I am not hating on the ride at all, I like it, just trying to sort the correct names.

It says comp on the sticker. Stickers are factory original. I bought it brand new. For grins I zoomed in on my phone and can see it says comp. For the record it's a 96' Supergoose comp.

Fantastic, Supergoose Comp then!
Mongoose during those mid years seemed to produce some serial numbered frames the year or half year prior to the release year, at least for the 24's. Plenty of examples of just this, a second half '96 serial number for a bike that was released in a '97 catalog. (just to confuse things more)
Now if the bike was actually available the second half of that prior year, (like cars sometimes) I don't know?
So I do have a catalog shot there of the '97 Supergoose Comp, and I believe it lists the '97 as a 1 1/8 head tube.
And yours being a 1" head tube, I'd reason that yours in not one of those late year models and is a '96.
Funny I couldn't seem to blow it up to see the 'comp' until I used my phone.
