Old bike shop photos

I've been trying to search out on the "Interwebs" photos/videos of inside old hometown bmx shops we all used to frequent , and there really isn't that much out there (2 or 3 photos) I would really like to put a calag together 70's and 80's. early 90s as well (prior to the "collapse" I know there are a couple here  on the site, but it would be great if we could really dig for this stuff! Can you guys and gals add some to this thread ? Looking forward to seeing some RAD stuff!!!

Re: Old bike shop photos

Not trying to turn your post into an infomercial, but If you're looking for old bike shop pics I highly recommend a DVD that a good friend of mine Steve Marcom recorded and produced. It's coverage of the GT/Brittania tour at Rockville BMX shop in 1986. The second half of the video is a freestyle show featuring Eddie Fiola, Martin Aparijo, Dino DeLuca and Josh White. But the first half of video footage seems to be exactly what you're looking for. It's a tour of the Rockville BMX shop circa 1986. In the footage of the shop you see everything from frame sets and complete bikes to stacks of Haro number plates and every color of ODI grips that were produced. The first time I watched the DVD it took me back big time and I felt 10 years old again. I know you want still shots but if you just want to be transported to a BMX shop in 1986 you should contact my buddy Steve and check out his video.

Re: Old bike shop photos

Man ya had to run a Rockville sticker on your plate in 85! What's crazy is even in Detroit we knew that was " the shop" and this was way before the internet! Would see a lot of them on bikes at east coast nationals and the colors and design was majorly cool for the time. We would hoard them in case of new plate purchases.

Been stopping by since my teen years, in the mid 80s.

Here's Bill Blke... the owner. Shop is in ELA bordering Montebello. It's one of the oldest bike shops in Los Angeles.

I am looking at all the cool stuff hanging on the wall. Do I see a white JMC and Skyway TA frame on the wall?

Not a great picture but this was our LBS back in the day.  Roger & Wrays
Kind of an all outdoor store but most Schwinn bikes.  I worked there for a couple years in HS until it closed when the owner decided to retire and sold the shop.

Re: Old bike shop photos

Looks like a couple Race Inc. models on the wall, freshly stamped out Tuffs...Just awsome....! Nothing like that feeling when walking into the shop with some cash in the pockets. Far better than a candy shop as a kid , for me at least . So cool!

Here’s my Local Bike Shop. “Webster Bicycles Webster, Texas”
I’ve been spending money here since I was old enough to earn money.
Here is a recent picture of it with my Two Four that was sold out of the shop back when it was a lawn mower and bike shop.

Re: Old bike shop photos

really great photos guys!

i remember when i was a kid, a friends dad used to take us to this shop that was basically a house with a small storefront out front...it was in the hood for sure. this was early 90's and this shop was literally unknown because i remember mid 80's complete high-end hutch's and stuff like that...and all kinds of old parts and everything was just dusty as hell..we were probably the only folks that ever came by...

man, if id had only knew!

Wow, Bill Blake still working on bikes.  I frequented his shop during the mid 90s while building my lowrider bikes. Bill was an instrumental figure for the Lowrider Bicycle movement.  Good to see his business still prospering
