2016 Jayhawk Racing Prototype
Prototype
This here is the 16th JayHawk frame produced and the first with bolt on dropouts. Also included are the aluminum JayHawk forks. I'm lucky enough to be able to test one of these out for the 2017 season.

Yes. He uses 73mm bottom brackets so no need for the BB spacer. Just thread in cups and install cranks. Can't wait to see your build!

How did I miss this unbelievably cool-looking frameset!?! How are you getting on with it so far?
Check out my 1983 VDC-built Trident, 1983 Kuwi Laserlite, 2010 GT Ultrabox 2, 2011 Crupi race rig and prototype Quamen, plus the all things Crupi & old school scene in Japan threads. Always interested in buying used, mid-school race plates.

Re: 2016 Jayhawk Racing Prototype
The first new school bike that I have ever liked. I am glad to see that somebody is thinking "outside the box" instead of making just another carbon copy racer.
I am serious and don't call me Shirley.

I'm loving it! I recently started using the new machine formed and flush riveted frame and it's a thing of beauty!

Re: 2016 Jayhawk Racing Prototype
Well, to keep everybody informed that is interested I am running this bike in our state championship series and I am currently in second place with one more qualifier to go and then state championships.
Last year I was the 28-35 novice/intermediate state champ and I'm currently on track to win it again hopefully. I will upload some race photos here soon.

Super cool looking bike. Screams unique. As a welder.myself, I'm not sure I understand the frame design, but sweet ride nonetheless

Back for a second look, brother. This bike is killer, and you are on the gas throughout those race pics. Awesome all around, Robert!

Re: 2016 Jayhawk Racing Prototype
Is the one with the red rims a expert 20" or 19.5"? What's the weight and feel in comparison to say carbon fiber and standard aluminum frames?
I saw these a while back in the starting phase. Saw one on eBay and thought the company might have folded. Didn't check to see. Glad it didn't cuz those are so cool.

Thanks! My brother has now built the bike up and dabbles in class racing. I’ll have to list it one day. This is bike #16 and my other is a later/newer frame.

Yes it’s an expert XL I believe. 20 or 20.5” TT. Weight is 3lbs 14oz on the XXL I race. Incredibly stiff and can take a thrashing. Can’t compare to carbon as I’ve never ridden carbon. Definitely a different looking frame but an awesome one.

Re: 2016 Jayhawk Racing Prototype
Thanks for the info.
Hmm, trying to visualize one with anodized coloring. Maybe a purple fade to raw aluminum with a turquoise splatter effect.
Saw they're looking at making some 26" with a engine turned finish. That'd be rad for sure.
