Does look like a original and cool survivor condition to build on.

Re: 1987 Hutch Pro Racer
Nice-looking Hutch, and there's another one with those decals currently for sale:-

As there doesn't seem to be many of them with those decals, I'd definitely keep the og finish on yours. As for the post, if you're going to ride it regularly then maybe keep the layback on but if it's not going to be ridden (much), I'd put a straight post on there. A bike regardless and I love the # plate!
Check out my 1983 VDC-built Trident, 1983 Kuwi Laserlite, 2010 GT Ultrabox 2, 2011 Crupi race rig and prototype Quamen, plus the all things Crupi & old school scene in Japan threads. Always interested in buying used, mid-school race plates and pads - UGP, Knucklebone, Lizard Skins, Odyssey and Pryme to name but a few!!

Re: 1987 Hutch Pro Racer
Very cool looking build. Glad you decided to keep the original finish.
Those decals go really well with the red parts. I am currently sell a mint red Nitto stem the same as yours that would look awesome on your build.
Job well done!
LOOKING FOR........ or consider in a Trade ;
-DK Freestyle stem PLATFORM ONLY
-Mint or NOS BLUE Cal Lite Johar FRAME pad.
-Mint or NOS CHROME Cal Lite Johar BAR pad.
