2004 Profile Racing Racer XL

This has got to be the finest example of late mid-school Profile Racing!  The bike was pieced together with as many Profile components as possible and it's in immaculate condition.  Worth every penny!

This bike is the reason why I actually joined BMX Museum. The first time that I saw a photo of it was back on 11/21/2010. On that day, museum member John De Bruin (the current owner of Hutch BMX) had posted up a few photos of the bike, and I instantly became in love with it. However, without being a museum member, I had no way to comment or message John until I became a member, which I did shortly thereafter.

I never imagined that I'd actually own this bike, but after JDB had the bike for nearly four years (John bought it via eBay in 2010), he put it up for sale on 5/13/2014 for $1,100 USD shipped. The bike quickly sold (I didn't even realize that it went up for sale), but after the buyer backed out, the bike was relisted on 10/9/2014.  I immediately PM'd John and tried to get it for a little less than his asking price.  He was fortunately willing to let it go for $900.00 USD shipped, so I became the proud owner on 10/10/2014.

I don't know who actually pieced this bike together (I'd love to know), but whomever it was, they did a great job! The original owner sent the frame and fork back to Brew Bikes (the builder of the frame/fork set), the old paint was stripped, and then the f/f set was re-powdercoated in the same shade of navy blue. Then as many Profile Racing components as possible were used to finish off the build, making for one special bike that I'll probably never get rid of. The bike's not truly era correct, but all of the parts were either purchased new or in like-new condition and the custom one-off padset cost roughly $300.00 USD to make.

Parts List (as pictured):

Re: 2004 Profile Racing Racer XL

Echo what Baz said -- this is the best of the best!  I instantly recognized this as JDB's old bike, and am glad it found its way to the home of somebody who truly appreciates it.  Those pads...

Would you mind posting a close-up of the seat tube decal located under the Profile decal?  Haven't seen that before...
