Re: Wall 2 Wall. The Birth Of Freestyle project.

Happy to see all the members receiving their books.

I'm about three-quarters of the way through the book and it's just incredible!!!

What I wouldn't give to be able to go back in time and compete in the AFA Events - to visit Rockville and see the 1984 GT Show with Eddie Fiola that took place there - to take a trip out to Cali and attempt Pipeline. Damn I need a Delorean and 88 mph!!

Unbelievable stores, Great Photos, Incredible Insight from those that lived it, recorded it and helped foster it.

Who knew Bob Osborn was so influential in fostering BMX Freestyle - READ THE BOOK!

YES, I wish I would have sent in drawings to Bob at Wizard Publications!!

As much as I lived and breathed BMX Freestyle in the 80s - I was NEVER without BMX Action, until FREESTYLIN' launched and I was NEVER without my bike - the information in the book all seems fresh!!

I can't wait to read more, yet I don't want it to end!!

Where's the movie on this?

ESPN 30 for 30 - Take Note!! The Hoffman Birth of Big Air was Fantastic, but how about The Birth of the Freestyle Movement - from Swimming Pools to the Olympics!!!

Someone, Anyone, produce a documentary on this! I'll work for free just to be a part of it.

I look like Matt Damon, so imagine Jason Bourne interviews El Cid or the King of the Skateparks or the Condor!!

It's important, incredible, cool, dynamic, interesting and we have DOM to thank for it!!

Thank you Dom!!!

not on Facebook.  any other ideas?  I've tried numerous times to contact them on their site, only to never to get a response.  Surely somebody in this community knows how to arouse this outfit.

Re: Wall 2 Wall. The Birth Of Freestyle project.

I, too, am still waiting. I've had communication with Rebecca Phipps. She told me that mine was shipping "this week" on Sept 17. I've emailed her three times since, once per week, with no response.
I too paid last year, and the balance immediately in July. They've been in the hands of folks for a couple months now, and I could have bought one through another seller at this point.
She told me that they underestimate international shipping. Still, it shouldn't take a month to get to Winnipeg from Oregon. Still trying to be patient, but I don't think that this is my problem at this point - they need to fulfill their orders / promises.
I'm still looking forward to receiving it and am grateful for the work.

The book covers the first decade of the Freestyle movement and has input from a ton of amazing folks from the era. The first decade crystallized Freestyle from its origins, to its evolution into the basis of what exists today as an Action Sport. I have thousands of unseen images, plenty of untold stories, and the book is available on a deposit pre-order with a 100 Limited Edition collectible box set that includes some custom Vans, a limited (project specific) illustration from Bob Haro, replica jerseys from Haro, GT and Skyway, grips from Oakley, ODI and Ame.. and more. Hit the site link to receive updates and the launch email. Thanks.... Dom

this is great an all but a actual movie would be better.  I love the Lords of Dogtown because of the history and reality.  we need a movie that depicts the the same about bmx in my personal opinion.  Let;s face it RAD was kind of gay.  It was cool when we were 15 right?  I wish they would make a modern day movie about what we all went through back in the day like Lord's of Dogtown but in BMX style.

My Father once spoke to me and said "The way you look at your bike is the way I see My children, I look past the imperfections and rough surfaces to the beauty of the finished product."

Re: Wall 2 Wall. The Birth Of Freestyle project.

Got mine via Fed Ex today. Much better late than never, to be sure.
The book is, so far, better than I expected. I was worried about the compromises that would be made for industry / brand sponsors, but these last sections (that focus on the brands) feel like a bonus thing rather than a compromising force. So that's great. And the organization and the content, again, seem better than I expected. Deeper than I thought it would be.
I expected something aesthetically pleasing but superficial, but, thus far, I am pleasantly surprised. And pleased.
I regret buying the Flite case cover, though. The one I got is a blank, un-branded document cover that does not make me think of Flite in any way. I thought that it would resemble crash pads in some way, and / or be manufactured in neoprene. Something special and nostalgic. What I got is a sturdy canvas bag with a heavy-duty zipper. It was only $10, as I remember, so no harm done, but still disappointing.
It should be noted that Dom underestimated the shipping to Canada by quite a bit, but eventually came through and sent me the book at the agreed upon price (losing about $25 in the process). Cheers Dom - and congrats on the project.
