1986 Schwinn Predator Streetwise

BUILT TO BE RIDDEN!

This frame came into my possession about 3 years ago. It has gone through many different looks in those three years. I always had a Skyway TA on my wish list but Schwinn was were I cut my BMX teeth. So I thought why not fuse those two legendary names in this build. And since I don't care about correct this or that, I went crazy with it. The frame is a 1986 Predator Streetwise and that's where it goes off the deep end. Fork is a Tange TX-1200 Champion, Skyway tuff II's, Dia-Compe MX-890 side pull brake calipers with Skyway Tuff Pads, Dia-Compe 25.4 hinged seat post clamp, Dia-Compe brake levers, Skyway Turbo Disc sprocket, Haro fusion pedals, Redline monster cranks, Nitto MX-2 stem, Flite padset and Ame grips. I also believe no Schwinn is complete without a sparkle seat like the Sting-Rays had in the beginning and considered by many to be one of the first bmx bikes. I know I'll probably catch hell for modifying Team Schwinn decals but keep in mind, my bike, my way like Frank Sinatra. I think they look rad. I think if the bike was a living creature, it would be happy with itself from how it started out to what it looks like now. Overall, I like the latest look and this thing gets ridden a lot! Looking at it I find myself reminiscing on that awesome time called the 80's and it helps me escape to a simpler time for me like Oingo Boingo, Def Leppard and Walkmans, no cell phones or social media and summer days riding in empty lots. So you can say it's been almost like therapy. Needless to say, this is a bike I'll never get rid of, no matter what the wife says!

Cool story! I think it's awesome! Although purists will knock it, I think it's a custom bike that makes you happy, and that's all that really matters!
Great job, and crank that Oingo Boingo and ride on! :)
