Re: BMX spotted in the movies

Yeah, I saw and liked Maria Full of Grace.  Y yo me gusta las Colombianas.  That being said, they are all batshit crazy.  I have a friend from Barranquilla who told me there's an old Colombian proverb to the effect that God's revenge on the world for making a place as beautiful as Colombia was populating it with Colombians...

I remember "Uncommon Valor".  It was a Vietnam buddies get together to go back and pick up their friends stuck over there flick.  One of the principal characters raced cruisers.  In fact, they had to go to a race to find him and his code name the rest of the movie was "BMX".

The scene from Uncommon Valor was filmed at my grandparents BMX track (USBMX) and the kid listening to Tex was wearing my uncles CW jersey because the producer liked the colors....good stuff

I may have missed the freestyle scene mentioned in Revenge of the Nerds, but i do know that when they're fixing up the house, the Asian dude (Takashi?) is wearing an A'ME painters cap when Booger is getting him high

What about Dazed and Confused when jr high lets out. One kid rides off, his bars look like GT freestyle bars (way to new for a movie set in the late '70's)

Wanted- White Industries Freewheel 19T and 20T, and Big Gulp bars- because I think they look goofy enough to cruise with!

Not sure if this one has been mentioned yet, but the 1987 film MANNEQUIN with Kim Cattrall and Andrew McCarthy. In the Mall at night he was ridding a freestyle bike of some sort with mag covers.

Re: BMX spotted in the movies

I'm glad this thread resurfaced. A couple months ago I saw a few minutes of "Uncommon Valor" and there was indeed a big BMX part in it. Unexpected sightings like that are so cool smile

In an episode of Knight Rider "Lost Knight", Doug Wainwright (Jason Bateman), plays a fourteen-year-old that is being chased my criminals.  He has a Mongoose Motomag bike...

never EVER try a serious jump with this bike when the wind is blowing...a friend of mine, when were kids, got knocked right on his arse once when the wind caught the discs. Hysterical at the time (yes he was OK) tongue
