Re: BMX spotted in the movies
Man., that should have been the commercial for the 87 Schwinn Predators.
looks like this guy may have inspired Hoffman to do the Back Flip Fakie...
(i mean, after all... He was in Aggro Man - this whole movie looks like Pre-AggroMan footage)

Re: BMX spotted in the movies
this is a cool thread.the first time I saw bmx on any screen, was on a wgn chicago,tv bumper, some guy doing tailwhips on a white cw,I think, this was 83-84,then on the big screen,e.t.of course, karate kid,the bmx bandits,rad,quicksilver(1986,kevin bacon),had some wicked tricks on tenspeeds,by woody itson and pat romano,in 1986,also,mannequin,with that kid, mathhew something, also by pat romano;in 1987,police academyIII,had a guy doing a cherry picker on a trickstar during the skateboard chase scene,16 candles had some kid on a general doing tricks on one of the opening scenes(or was it pretty in pink?),better off dead, new jack city(dope chase scene with chris rock supposedly going down a huge set of stairs, since this was nyc,I think the rider must be tony diaz or victor ortiz from the rad dogs, recently i saw a movie about a kid stopping time with a watch, which also had pat romano again doing his signature tricks on a bike, plus jesse puente came out in a lil bowow video in 1999,riding a chrome KHE premium lager, doing junkyards and a barride(crowd fave!),correct me if Im wrong,I also think revenge of the nerd pt,.1 had a little freestyle scene,as well as weirs science, but IM not sure,it's been a long time, like rakim says!oh,and of course, thrashin' and gleaming the cube had some skate action worth watching, well, thrashin was sort of the skater's rad,but the movie,I hate to admit, was much cooler than rad(I hear blasphemy from afar!lol),no,for real,I mean, tricks wearing high heels?Happy new year, museumkeepers!

Re: BMX spotted in the movies
There was a Disney movie (produced around 1986) where a kid builds a rocket launcher on his BMX bike. I don't remember the name but Scott Freeman was in the movie and BMX Action and SuperBMX made a big deal about it in one issue back in the day. The main character's friend was riding a green Dyno Compe and there were a couple of Skyway bikes in it of course. Anyone remember this or know what the title of it was. Freeman was also doing tricks in an Ovaltine commercial as well.

Gary,
Sorry for the late in reply, My work made me
work for a change today/night LOL anyways
happy new year 2008. That list of the IMDB`s
listings, to me it is missing some but Iv been
trying to keep it par for what I know of them all.
It is somewhat hard to know what is what as all
of the web videos end up showing up. The IMDB
does a good job on in listing movies but they seem
to not cat them in groups but just by the dates so
in all if my list is missing BMX movies please let me
know so they can be added in to that list I have....
And thanks everyone for all the input Im
seeing a few things I did not know about...

I'm pretty sure Eddie Fiola did at least one of those Mountain Dew commercials(the one where he is chasing the cheetah). Also, in Pump up the Volume there is a brief shot of a kid on a white 87 Pro Performer in a drive way.

That movie had some horrible editing in it. If I remember right Eddie Fiola did the tricks for that movie.

Re: BMX spotted in the movies
In the beginning of Lil Giants with Rick Moranis and Ed O'Niel (Married With Childeren) there is a chase scene with a girl in a go kart and a bunch of kids on BMX bikes. The only one I could make out was a yellow GT, maybe a Mach 1, that gets jumped into a lake. I'm sure some of the eagle eye's in the musuem could pick out more. There were 5 or 6 bikes in the chase, it was cool.

Re: BMX spotted in the movies
I saw the movie Can't Buy Me Love on ABC Family yesterday and Patrick Dempsey was riding some kind of Diamond Back. It must have been a Viper or a Silver Streak.

Re: BMX spotted in the movies
I remember "Uncommon Valor". It was a Vietnam buddies get together to go back and pick up their friends stuck over there flick. One of the principal characters raced cruisers. In fact, they had to go to a race to find him and his code name the rest of the movie was "BMX".
