BMX spotted in the movies
I was stuck at home watching some older movies on TV and spotted a couple of bikes.
1st, in the Karate Kid, Daniel transoprted a Mongoose cruiser from Newark, NJ to California on the roof of his mothers Malibu wagon. Some decent close up shots of it when they arrived in California. I spotted blue Araya's w/coaster brakes. It was an early bike, the one with the tall head tube.
2nd, Overboard with Goldie Hawn, a nice Motomag Mongoose on the front porch of the house near the end of the movie.
I'm sure there are more, so lets hear what you've seen!

In Karate Kid didn't he get mad when he got beat up and tossed his bike in the dumpster then Mr. Maigi (sp) fixed it?

Geoff, I think you're right! I flipped the channel before that part, but now that you mention it, I think you're right.
I forgot the most obvious move of them all, besides RAD, ET! Duh.

Re: BMX spotted in the movies
I don't remember what bike it was, but I remember an issue of BMX Action when I was in 7th or 8th grade, they worte about BMX in a movie called The Never Ending Story. The mag made a big deal about it back then, I never saw the movie but I remember that article. Had to be '85 or '86.

That bike was a Mongoose Two-Four 24" cruiser from about 1981 or 1982. Very cool!
Still searching for my missing bikes from BITD. 1979 Blue Max serial: CI9 221346 and 1977 Webco serial: 42667. Both were last seen at Spoke and Sport Bicycles in Spokane, WA around 1984. $600 reward if found!!

Re: BMX spotted in the movies
1979's "Over the Edge" had tons of old Schwinn-type and BMX spottings. And, a great movie to boot. Found a few pictures on a fansite...

There's some close shots of a nasty black and neon bike that the kid is on when he gets sucked into the satellite in the John Ritter classic Stay Tuned.
