Re: New GT performer 26 for 2017.. looks good

I just finished my first ride on my new '17 GT Pro Performer and I really dig it.  I wasn't sure that this would be very well built for the price, but I was mistaken.  I want to add some personal touches, but for the fellas that are just too big for a 20" it sure feels nice to pedal a BMX again.  If you are on the fence, I'd say pull the trigger!  The welds all look great and the components were better quality than I expected.

I am nearly 6'2" and 250 lbs, so I look like a circus bear on a 20 incher  no matter how much I still love them.  This is the answer for people who still want to ride a bike but don't care about MTB, or can't stand the thought of riding a beach cruiser (My grandma rode one when I was a kid and I can't rationalize it, lol!) The city I live in just built a greenway that is 13 miles long and connects most of the city parks, I can't wait to wear it out with my kid!

I hadn't even thought about buying one of these until I started looking for parts for the 20" GT Pro Performer that I am restoring for my daughter and I saw these 26s.  I'd like to throw on a set of the XL or XXL Pro Handlebars from Turner on here and some 86-era graphics on it.  And a chrome seat post.  Oh and up grade the brakes. Turns out just because I fit on it doesn't mean it will stop. lol I REALLY wanted the white one, but this will do until I can send this off for powder coating this winter.

Re: New GT performer 26 for 2017.. looks good

finally brought mine home the other day. Chrome 2017 GT Performer 26". I got mine from Elite Bicycles in Citrus Heights near Sacramento. Killer BMX freestyle shop....the best bmx shop i've seen within a few hours of my house, that's for sure!
I love the bike. So far no quality issues- I do plan a few mods soon though-
1. add an odyssey gyro
2. replace the GT power [img][/img][img][/img]series cranks with Redline flight 401's like i had in 1987
3. upgrade the rear center-pull brake and lever....the brake it comes with is crap
4. add a front brake
5. replace the saddle with a Brooks B17 (i want to cruise in comfort)
6. maybe replace the black anodized aluminum rims it came with, with a set of custom built polished aluminum rims

What color did you buy? I have a white one but originally wanted a blue one.

Looking for a small Yeti made Schwinn Homegrown MTB frame. Or other Yeti made frames. Pair of Spurs tickets to all home games for sale or trade for 80's BMX or nice Odyssey Pitbull brake.
If I owe you feedback let me know.

Think, that your chrome one is a 2018 model wink
Headtube prepared with pre-drilled holes for a gyro, right!?
Than defo 2018 model (2017 model is missing pre-drilled holes).

This should be a small preview of the photos you tried to post:
