Thats a super deal for sure!  Got my replacement bike today, my other one had QC issues.  Sad thing is this new one is not much better.

Most of my new school stuff is from over seas. The quality is great. Some of the welds on my GT look like my 9yr old daughter welded them. I bought it just to cruise so I can get over that, but there should have been some sort of quality control. My HT decal is crooked too. I swapped a bunch of parts with other stuff I had on my shelf. The cranks do nothing for me and I will be swapping them out for my Subrosa Big Bitchins in chrome.

Re: New GT performer 26 for 2017.. looks good

Ok guys here is my take now that I have had a chance to ride the GT.  It's been raining for 4 days since I picked it up so this is my 1st chance for a good test.   I love it!  I'm 6'1 and the 26 inch is so much more comfortable then the 24  SE Quad I bought a month ago.  The welds are so-so especially around the standing platform.  The cranks are extremely fluid and the bike feels very light.  I just started riding bikes again after many years so I have a limited experience with new bike tech.  The 24 Quad feels very heavy compared to the GT.  I can get a decent bunnyhop and can almost ride a wheelie on the GT but the Quad feels very small under me.  The Quads welds are impeccable and the overall quality seems better.  The tan sidewalls on the GT are not perfect either.  Overall, I love the GT. It's a smooth ride, good paint job and I can sit and cruise with the kids and it brings me right back to 86 when us Redline boys argued with the GT boys.  I think after a ton of practice I may be able to pull off some old tricks on this thing.  My big mod is dice valve covers!  The nostalgia factor and smooth ride makes it worth the price.  If you guys have any input on other 26 inch or 29 inch brands I would appreciate it.  That Haro 26 chrome Master looks fantastic but very pricey and you can't get them anywhere.   The Haro guys were always the rich kids anyway.

Re: New GT performer 26 for 2017.. looks good

I ended up making one good GT Performer out of 2.  Spent all of last night swapping parts to make a decent example of this thing.  The wheels are near perfect of my replacement bike, no scratches and they run true.  Swapped bars off original as they were perfect.  The replacement bike bars were really bad looking...something went wrong with the clear coat.  The front forks are now perfectly aligned with the front wheel drop outs.  Welds are better on the new one..no holes in the welds.  I'm happier now but still wish they had somebody that knew how to put decals on straight.  As stated before this bike is so inferior in build quality to my SE Fat Ripper....even thought they are both from china.

I wonder if they will be coming in other colors besides white and blue? Mine has a decal that says Neon Colors May Fade.

Nice Haro.  I love the chrome and blue.   Unfortunately, the only Haro in chrome available are the 24 with mags or a white frame.  The ones are eBay are crazy pricey.  I have no time to build a bike these days.  I need a complete from a bike shop.  I really like those Ambient frames.  Looks like a Torker or RL20II.  I can't even find the time to fix my 86 RL and it only needs tubes and some cables.

GT stem is pretty weak.  Tight as possible and has shifted forward after minor hops.

Performance Bike had them for $50 off plus $20 extra this weekend.  Doesn't look like site has them anymore.  Maybe they sold out.

I want the blue one. I really regret selling this one. I'd like to build something similar again.

Blue are coming out in December from what I read.  Looks like white have sold out on most sites already.

Can you take the decals off or are they cleared over?

That bike looks like those Lambo kits they put on stock Fiero chassis... Just doesn't quite look right.
Those are tiny handlebars on a huge bike.

Re: New GT performer 26 for 2017.. looks good

I just picked up a blue GT Pro Performer 26" in Northern California after calling many places. Just so happened that they received a 2017 model in blue instead of in white. The bike has been great so far. Upgraded the brake pads to the  Odyssey Clear Slim by Four soft compound and added some Poly Pegs to the back. FYI: After multiple calls and finally finding another blue version, it appears that that the serial number section of the bike will only have a white primer and will not be in the blue matching paint. Most likely to keep the serial number legible from the powder coat. Most bike shops have these on backorder pending a December release. A nice retro bike for turning 40 this year, especially since I had the blue GT Performer back in the 80's.

So how limited is the production on these? Are they going to keep doing runs or are the white ones done for good?

I don't think anyone powder coats anything production these days.  It's all wet paint.  I've also seen where they mask off the serial number before the top coat of paint.  Not sure why they do it but I always considered it a quality control problem.

Does the blue color look right to you?  Since you had one in the 80's  you would know.  I think blue is the logical choice.  I was never a GT guy but these bikes are pretty cool looking and would be fun to cruise around.

Re: New GT performer 26 for 2017.. looks good

I just swapped out the handle grips and had to move the brake lever over and the marks left by the brake does look like it is just paint and not powder coat. The masked off serial number in white is very odd, I wish it was all blue. The color looks pretty close to what I recall my old bike looking like in the 80's.  It does take a lot of muscle to get the tires off the ground without a jump, but it is very smooth when going fast. Waiting to try it out on some dirt jumps soon.  Installing front brakes for messing around with those old endo tricks.

Re: New GT performer 26 for 2017.. looks good

I am 41 years old and 6"1, 225 lbs., and I want to get back into BMX (I have not ridden since a teenager).  I had two Pro Performers as a kid and I like the look of this one. I was a big RAD, Martin Aparijo, and GT fan as a kid. Will this new Pro Performer work for an amateur rider who wants to do some free style tricks, cruise, and some light dirt track action?  Are 26 inch wheels good for an all around amateur bike?
