Performance Bike supposedly has them for 479.99. That is with a 20.00 off coupon that is applied in your cart this weekend.

That's an incredible price if they actually have them.  If that's with shipping included, that's almost at dealer cost.

They have free shipping to a local Performance Bike store, then you just pick it up there.

I can't imagine that any local store would be excited to provide this service.  I guess different bike shops will have different thoughts on this process.

Can't seem to edit my post in reply to your shipping to a "Performance Bike" store...I didn't realize that you are referring to an online outfit shipping to one of "their own" stores.  I originally thought that you meant order it online and ship to "any" closet bike store.  My mistake and my apology if my tone was off.  Anyway the price you mentioned is super cheap.  The more and more I inspect my new GT, the more less than perfect stuff I'm finding??.  The front fork drop outs are misaligned so the front wheel looks crooked when you look down.  The black rims were scratched and touched up before shipping.  The rear brakes don't stop for shit...but that can be fixed.  The I wish this bike was as nice as the SE fat ripper I got just a few days before.  I know they are both China bikes but SE puts out a far superior product.

This is an understatement.  I put Odyssey clear pads on mine and they stop on a dime now.

Well that sucks. I ordered one yesterday from Performance Bike. Lets see if I even get it and if its in bad shape, I wont even take it out of the store.

Not quite sold out but only available in very limited quantities.  Internet venders advertise them as in stock...but I guess you need to follow up with them and really find out.  As my family is a GT dealer, I can tell you they are a little difficult to get right now.

so what they say in stock now wen it's not. to trick people in to kinda a pre order or what?

i have to agree with this statement hmm

Re: New GT performer 26 for 2017.. looks good

Performance Bike seems to have the best prices if you want to ship to their location and have it built.  I ordered my Performer and I have to go pick it up.  Just looking to relive my BMX glory days while riding around with my kids.  Hope it's not jacked up.  Blue seems impossible to find but I wanted the white anyway.   Price with free shipping to store was 479 plus double points for next purchase.   Might have to swap out the tires for white.  I'll keep you posted on condition.  Purchased an SE Quadrangle 2015 24 from them and it had quality control issues too.  They let me borrow the messed up Quadrangle and ordered me another.  I think half the time the shipping companies are tossing these bikes around so they are opened damaged.

Re: New GT performer 26 for 2017.. looks good

Thanks for the post and please post up when you get yours.  I want to love mine but I'm done with this one.  It's up for sale as GT won't do anything for me.  I may or may not try and order another.  I need to see how the next few look before I do anything.

Re: New GT performer 26 for 2017.. looks good

Update..I'm contacting a rep from GT today again and requesting another bike.  The one I got should have never left the factory.  Also, I'll try and find out when the blue one will be available for those that are interested.

Do you mind asking when the next wave of Power Series cranks will be available?  Does your family shop sell those?  Thanks in advance!

Re: New GT performer 26 for 2017.. looks good

The thing is, you actually can build a 26" bike that is plenty capable of throwing tricks:

Look at the 26" street-trials bikes by Inspired like the Hex

Look at 26" street bikes by Deity (the streetsweeper)

Look at the Transition BLT

All of these bikes have low standover and short 15" chainstays and are not based on beach cruiser geometry like this GT.

All of them are capable of being ridden way beyond most of our abilities, and actually feel more like BMX bikes than most of the 26" BMX bikes out there.

The problem is that most BMX companies haven't exactly been innovating when it comes to 24" and 26" geometry.
