Lame.  I just emailed them to see if I could verify it.  There is nothing about it online other than that petition.

Re: Ray's MTB MKE Closing

There has been a few employees from Trek/Ray's MKE that have posted about it on Facebook.

Apparently Trek decided that they have no desire to be in the park business (especially when it loses money or just barely breaks even) and combined with a land lord that wants to jack the rent, Trek is just deciding to not do it anymore.

Plus Ray bought back the CLE location from Trek, so I can understand Trek's willingness to cut their losses with the MKE location.

I know a lot of people will want to bash Trek in all of this, but the truth is if they hadn't stepped in a few years ago, both locations would've had to close due to financial problems. Trek at least allows the parks to grow and build a loyal following. Hopefully somebody will step up and try to keep the MKE location going.

Re: Ray's MTB MKE Closing

So many stupid comments in that article.

First, I saw plenty of fat tire bikes riding Ray's. Not ALL of them are riding outdoors. And there are still plenty of BMXers and Mountain bikers out there supporting the park.

Second, the location was just fine. I drive just as far to get to my local BMX track, that is also set far off the road with a questionable parking lot.

The main problem is the park was located in a very poor part of Milwaukee. The landlord is jacking up the rent seems ridiculous when chain stores can't even stay open in the area.

It will be sad day if Ray's closes. I loved that place, and loved that it even existed. The knowledge that on any given day between the months of October and April, I could pack up my bikes and drive to a friendly place and get my rad on was like heaven.

Whenever I went, I saw more riders than I do at a local BMX event, at my local skate park, or even riding along the beach in the summer.

sad

Re: Ray's MTB MKE Closing

This news story from last week is the most up to date info I've seen.

What I don't get is why Trek doesn't just buy the whole building outright and rebrand it.  Most of their rentals are Treks anyway.  You would think a company like Trek would have the resources to fight whatever is happening (seems like their landlord is just raising the rent?), and they SAY they care but it sure doesn't seem like it.  I guess it's not profitable enough for them anymore mad

...And that's what it all comes down to, Nick -- the bottom line.  Damned shame is what it is.

Re: Ray's MTB MKE Closing

Ok Fella's
It does not look good.
We heard from a former employee from Trek/Ray's yesterday.
The problem does not lie with Trek.
It has to do with a greedy land lord.
Trek had someone lined up to buy the business.
But the greedy landlord wants a big check from Trek or double the rent for the new ownership.
If anyone can chime in with experience in situations like this some guidance would be appreciated.

I have done some research and found the building owner.
