Thanks. I thought long and hard about which grips to use. I tried the pink am'e tris. Also tried pink am'e rounds, plus black am'e tri's. They all looked good, but just good. I felt like i needed some black at the front end, and wanted something a bit extra, so i went for oakley b-2's.

1st was a mint Haro Gen 1 freestyler. Gold hadley bottom bracket, graphites, correct tyres. You get the idea.

2nd was a 1986 March freestyler (made by Rickman bikes in the UK). It was built up exactly to a magazine test bike spec. The bike never hit the shelves due to a decline in bmx/March possibly having financial difficulties. The frames were given back to Rickman, and they released them with their own decals/specs.

This is one incredible build! I have a couple pink d/c cables, I'll check the date and let you know.
*edit *
Sorry, the pair I have are dated 86. Wish I could have helped.

Great thread with lots of pics! Turned out amazing.  Nothing screams 80's like a pink BMX!

Thanks Terry. Any pink 85 cables left in your parts bin to finish it off? I finally managed to find some Hutch freestyle pedals. Will get them fitted and take some updated photos in the spring

Re: 1985 GJS freestyler resto & build

**update**

I now have og Hutch beartrap pedals with freestye cages, plus a later Hutch stamped seatclamp. I'll get both fitted and get some more pics when the weather is good.

I'm still looking for 1 dia compe pink cable, dated '85. Can anyone help me with the final part to complete this build fully?
