1980 CW Racing 26
East Coast score
I happened upon a bike shop on a recent east coast road trip. I asked the guy working if they had any old BMX stuff laying around...he said " I think we have a few things in the basement"...! Yep, hanging up on a hook was this 26" chrome CW frame and fork and Suntour lock. The frame has a brace that was welded behind bottom bracket...oh well, part of the patina. The guy also produced a set of 1st gen Redline 180mm cranks. I bought all on the spot for $100! Yaaaa. I took it out last night for its maiden voyage on a 30 mile ride to the far corner of the Valley and climbed a few hills from there with the Tues night crew. I love the geometry when sitting on it. It does have a long rake in front that makes you want to hold onto the handlebars full time. 26" CW frame and fork...I have to guess its a 1980 as there are no serial #'s? padded comfy seat with the rivets, oval stamp GT straight seat post, black Suntour seat clamp, black D/C MX900 with blue Skyway pads and a Tech 4 lever, Araya 1.75 dark blue/black rims with black high flange sealed bearing hubs, Kenda small block eight 2.10 tires, Super Maxy cranks (tried the redlines but they hit the frame), blue KKT pedals (will probably replace with black when I find em'), black Suntour head lock, Pat Pen Tuf Neck square corner, CW cruiser bars, AME grips (forget the model name), black vinyl frame pad...not sure I will add the other two...just kinda looks cool this way.
