Score or a boat anchor, just don't know yet...

Saw this listed just as a BMX here in Sweden and unfortunately it was about 300 miles away from me, but I will be in the area at Easter. So took a chance to ask if they'd keep it for me till then.

It's rusty, but worth a shot since it was so cheap.

It's chrome, or at least has been at some stage in its life and looks like a GT ~89-92 or so...

Time will tell...

Looks like a 87-89 Pro Performer or PFT based on what looks to be the rear brake cable going thru the lower frame tube. cool

Number one rule when it comes to scores....never post a potential score until you have it in your hands. It can easily be snagged from you by someone reading this thread.

Poor thing. I hate to see that done to any bike, it probably would have been better off if the PO had just given to some kid walking by 15 years ago.

I'm hoping a lot of it just looks worse than it is... It'll get a nice bath to get rid of the rust and I'll go from there. But most likely this will be getting a day glow pink face lift.

Re: Score or a boat anchor, just don't know yet...

Yes, that bike is in fine condition.  That's a great score and your gamble paid off big time.  Well, i don't know what you paid, but I see what you got.

Hutch Fun Facts: All main line Hutch's with digits only S/N (no letters or baseballs) on the rear drop outs were US made and had their dropouts stamped between late '83 and '86.  Obviously the frame manufacture would occur slightly after that, even if they just threw 'em in a bucket randomly.  There is an obvious date code in that the first 2 digits seem to be the month and the 3rd digit is pretty obviously the last digit of the year running from '83-'86.
