Thanks Maddawg,

Can't stop changing things on this one - swapped the red Oakley 3's for blue and white Oakley B1-B'S and put on a blue Aero seat.

Re: 1982 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

Hi - I bought my original PK in the same colors in 1980-1981.... on the dropout there is a number "PK49898", Is that the serial number? What does that tell me, anything important? Does that identify the year? I am going to begin restoring the bike with/for my son and I am wondering if you could give me any pointers or just a heads up on what I have. I threw out the original LG forks.... replacement should be the 1" threaded tube?

Re: 1982 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

Holy moly!! I saw this bike ,and thought it was my loopy! Then I realized yours has z rims, and I've got blue tuff 2's! As soon as the pictures upload onto the site I'll show ya! Beautiful build! Keep the blue tyres! Real old school look! Cheers mate! Aaron 97

Re: 1982 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

Thanks guys,

I built this bike up to look like the one I had when I was 10 in 1981. It's pretty much the same (including the padset) except the frame on the original was ball burnished aluminium and I had Araya rims instead of Z-rims.

Jdgren, the numbers on the dropout are no good for dating the frame - the dropouts were pre-numbered and added randomly to the frames between 1980 and 1984. Good luck with rebuild and hope you find some more forks.

Look forward to seeing pics of your looptail Aaron97.

Re: 1982 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

Thanks Mike,

You've got some interesting bikes there. Shame you don't have the Spears Spaceliner anymore. Love your Hutch cruiser too.
