1995 Diamond Back Assault EX

Dumpster find Diamond Back Assault Ex

A dumpster find bike! Found this bmx bike in the dumpster at work. I couldn't tell what brand or vintage it was, but decided to take it home. When I broke it down I found a 1995 Diamond Back Assault EX. The frame down tube had red lettering "Assault EX" and DB is stamped in the rear dropouts. The owner of C & W Cycles (bmx Guru) advised that the frame was a combination of chromoly and mild steel tubing. I'm having trouble reading the serial number after sandblasting and powder coating. The last five digits might be 10703. I built this DB like my other bikes in the mid eighties. I never had three piece cranks back then. I reused the frame, fork, stem, seat post clamp (proneck style), and seat post. The frame was refinished in black mother of pearl (very fine metallic) and the fork in satin white. I rebuilt the bike with S&M Grand Slam XLT handlebars, Mushroom 2 retro grips, Dia-compe MX99 brake lever, Neco headset, Black Ops 180 one piece crank, Porkchop power disc and chainring,  Yst Corp bottom bracket, Sun Rhyno lite wheel set, Izumi chain, Shimano brake, and Comp three tires 2.125 (front) 1.75 (rear). I been riding on a rail trail near my house, frame seems nice sized for an adult rider.

Killer bike

You know who you are.
Always looking for old promo bikes: rc cola, sprite, slush puppy, 7-11 etc. Dept store bikes as well.
San Antonio is a culinary disaster jajaja! The sushi roll known as the "San Antonio Roll" has crushed flaming hot cheetos in it! Honest to god.
