1983 Tahoe Racing

Picked this up off craiglist.  Rare frame and fork in very good condition minus the reweld on the headtube. All the parts are in great shape too. GT pro bars, chrome 7x hoops laced to 1st gen Phil hubs, like new odi grips, kashi aero seat and rare race inc layback seatpost. Changed a few parts from how I found it (cranks, pedals, seat clamp and stem) and added the dyno plate to go with the checkers.

From what I've gathered (mainly from JT), f/f is the same as early 80s Robinson. Difference being the front gusset.

Re: 1983 Tahoe Racing

Great build of a cool frameset!

Check out my 1983 VDC-built Trident, 1983 Kuwi Laserlite, 2010 GT Ultrabox 2, 2011 Crupi race rig and prototype Quamen, plus the all things Crupi & old school scene in Japan threads. Always interested in buying used, mid-school race plates.

Awesome bike!
I really like these, perhaps because they look so similar to the National Pro. I wonder who came up with that " guest " design first ?
You really lucked out with the parts you found on it too, all primo stuff!
cool

Thanks. I was pretty happy to find just the f/f, parts were definitely a bonus. Not sure who came up with the gusset, but it's a sweet look. I'm definitely a sucker for looptails and gussets.

Re: 1983 Tahoe Racing

I'm a Robinson guy so maybe shouldn't like this but these frames are far less common. Great find...!

Re: 1983 Tahoe Racing

One of my "GRAILS" right here... big_smilebig_smilebig_smile  I was actually lucky enough to grow up with about half of the Factory Tahoe Racing Team... I know that Jason aka "bird" scored the remaining f/f sets from the former owners of Tahoe Racing and he knows all of those guys and girls as well, and raced with them... big_smilebig_smilebig_smile  I was never lucky enough to get my hands on one of these... Someday... big_smilebig_smilebig_smile  Love these bikes!!! Very nice Troy... big_smilebig_smilebig_smile
