1982 Mongoose Motomag
1982 Mongoose Motomag
1982 Mongoose Motomag
I bought this bike on eBay in the early 2000s while looking for a set of Motomag II wheels for another bike. I don't remember the price, but I seem to recall it being considerably low (around $300...definitely cheaper than a set of Motomag II's by today's standards!). When the bike arrived, I instantly knew that I just couldn’t bring myself to remove the wheels and ended up buying a separate pair for the other bike. It came as you see it with blue/white checkered Team Cycle pads, Ashtabula fork, and Mongoose stamped stem, crank and pedals. The handlebars and pedals don't appear to be era correct, but I liked the overall look so much that I never changed them. It appears that the decals on the top & bottom tubes are not in their usual locations for this model...which leads me to believe that they are not the original ones. What started out as a lucky eBay find has become one of my favorite bikes ever.
Update: The cheap foam grips have been replaced with new blue/white checkered ones (bought from Porkchop BMX) to match the pads and seat.
