Re: GT obsession!
at least I got the pics left!
those were part of my pft stable bitd, fave frame ever, too bad i outrode it,but still holds a special place in my heart...I have been getting some new ones lately, but never close to waht I had before,at one time I had 15 frames together, had about 26 total minus the new ones, guess we're both obsessed!the only color I never had was purple.those were rarer.

Re: GT obsession!
notice the new school riders staring at my bike's HUGE 44t sprocket!
or could it have been the brakes, yeah,he was probably staring at the fact I have not one,but TWO brakes!
or maybe it was my seatpost showing more than a quarter of an inch(and it's low for old school standards!)
it really was fun!

Re: GT obsession!
that particular frame,of course,is nothing like it was before,it has been totally modified so I could keep using it at 195 pounds!check it out,I did this in 94,when I was 150 pounds, but too rough on dropouts and rear ends!

Re: GT obsession!
one thing I could never stand about these bikes is the horrible sr 474 pedals, and the 87 seat, which sucked bigtime, and ripped up all my pants,AND the hollow alloy axles, which bent or broke/stripped on the first week always!but then again, nothing's perfect, not even pft's!
that's why thoseparts are harder to find, everyone threw them awaythe were only produced for that year, and they had no aftermarket sales, that's why!similar to tech 7's which were cool, but broke too easily, thank god dc did their homework quickly and blessed us with the outstanding tech 77,which to this day stands as the only 80's part in use up until recently, when brakes were declared illegal!
then again,to paraphrase r.l."If braking was illegal, only outlaws would skid!or smith decade out!"

Re: GT obsession!
I love all the pics! Here are some of mine for a group photo. I do have one more Pro Performer in the top drawer of my tool box at work ready to get blasted. These PFT'S are all survivors except the Day-Glo frame set in the front. You hardcore guys please excuse the the Fuji SE's that managed to sneak into the shots lol.

Re: GT obsession!
My GT's aren't worthy to be shown here. I do love them though. Two 84 PP's and 86 WT, 87 PP, 95 P and a few racers too. The GT's seem to be running off all of the other brands in my house.
Since I'm here, and you're here, doesn't that make it our time?

Re: GT obsession!
phil wood- very nice collection. I LOVE that white 88, your white 88 is what inspired me to do a white 88 (the white f/f you can see in the pics). Or you can just sell me yours, and I can have 2

Thanks for the compliments! Sorry I can't let the 88 go, I bought it new. It has enormous sentimental value.
