Mmm mmm bitch!  This is tastier than a Sam Jackson Lager!

Got a GT tech question!  Is that aluminum tube in the GT 22mm BB kit essential when installing into a 1987 GT PFT BB?  Doesn't seem like it is needed.  I didn't install it and everything seems to be ok so far.  What is the purpose?

Don’t do business with Tomboola as he WILL waste your time to dig the parts and not respond to you anymore after pictures.

You gotta split it and put that in.
It balances the tension. Other wise the side load pressure is constantly trying to blow the bearing into the frame. This way one bearing is being pressed into/using the other bearing for stability.
Having the tube in there will reduce creaking and increase bearing life.
