Sweet, grip-tape placement is a necessity on that location!! Did you build it from scratch?

Funny you ask! The original maui frame, fork, handlebars, seatpost all came at different times/sites. Took me a while but all the blue is og finish

Looks damn good! I’m hoping mine will sell so I can put cash into a Roth IRA for my daughter. Obviously buy the sprocket I need for my Speed Series Team XL. Got two more sets of those GT show cranks on there way, which will replace the Powerlite setup. Guys are starting to charge a bit to much but I found a California bike shop that had 9 sets and just bought the last two.

Re: GT obsession!

Since this seems to be a popular GT thread I was curious about your opinions.  What all can you guys tell me about these ?  First off is it USA MADE ?  Second would it be totally retarded to convert this to 24" bmx ?  I want honest opinions , good or bad.  You won't hurt my feeling .   I seen one and was curious if it's even worth owning .  For the record it was being rode as a single speed already.  Any extra info or opinions would be great. If it's junk I want to hear it . smilehttp://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/202040/image5ce0af1076.jpg

I've never seen one before either.  My buddy has found one but his pictures were not good at all.  No high end parts were screaming at me.  Decals were on it but the rest of the details of the bike were fuzzy in the pics.  Looked like a bike someone started to convert to bmx.

Nothing to special, good bike to rob parts from if you can get it cheap. Great Shimano Cantilevers and a somewhat decent seat, kinda funny looking. Things a tank, ugly unless you’re into GT mountain bikes. As I always say though, if you like it build it up, nothing’s better than the million dollar smile one gets after riding their own build. Good luck

Went for a spin yesterday on my 1989 Performer.  So fun to ride these bikes after all these years.

That 89 looks good.  I agree they are the best riding around the neighborhood.  Had my 87 out the other day.  http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/257326/20190513_1224235ce1a0b137.jpg

Just back from the powdercoater.  My 87 frame is starting to come together.  Did a little powdercoat experimentation .. white base, then the Pink, and then a layer of clear. Looks like a million bucks.. only issue might be the seatpost not fitting  tongue

Getting real close with this.  Been an adventure setting up the 990s.

Just put stickers on my 89 gt. There not perfect  but all I could find. I love the huge bold down tube decals of the late 80s gthttp://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/37896/901d660f-d511-4bc6-96c6-e4961576f6fe5ceaeb1809.jpeg
