Re: 2016 Skyway Streetbeat Unveiled

Well, the rear brake system is going to work harder than it should have to - look at that angle. I do approve of the coaster-brake bracket, however.

With a 75* head tube and I think it says 11.5" bb height, pretty sure it's a 20"

Just a guess but maybe they are trying to keep it compatible with the tiny sprockets favored by many modern flatlanders.

Angle looks to reflect the rad of the wheel. It would not be correct, and more strained if it was at a 90 to the freestyle/flat land type chain stays.

To be clear, I was referring to the angle that the brake cables will be pulling on the u-brake. It is not ideal.

Re: 2016 Skyway Streetbeat Unveiled

Actually I kinda hope they would leave out the coaster brake mount (imo it looks weird/ugly plus who needs it nowadays ?) and the knurling on the top tube and frame stand/seat stays because without'em it gives the frame an overall cleaner look ! Just my opinion . wink

Ok RC. Good to hear from you too. Lots of health issues between the wife and I but we're making it. Just started riding again after almost a year hiatus and it's great to be feeling better.

Re: 2016 Skyway Streetbeat Unveiled

Where did this info come from? From SKYWAY? CAUSE those are the same blue prints I have from 1988 minus the brake posts on the seat stay. Plus the top tube is from '88 which LOOKS LIKE CRAP compared to 1987. The knurlings fine, but the short crease in the top tube is wrong for any true STREETBEAT FAN, YOU KNOW THE GUYS THAT WILL ACTUALLY BE BUYING THESE!!! I started the "What? SKYWAYS NEW BIKE" thread a long time back cause I got the word a new STREETBEAT was on its way, but I was used as a pawn to get the word out bout the new T/A. If this is true, where's the info com in from???_
