Re: 1996 GT Speed Series Cruiser 24

Super Rare you say? Hmm...I bought one of these frame & fork WAY back in the day from a guy at my local bmx track and put my parts on it...My serial # is 0996**** September 1996?...I'm curious if you know if it is same as yours, as you said yours was late 95 stamped. My Frame/Fork looks IDENTICAL to yours, except mine is missing some of the factory stickers.
(which I am looking for): *Down tube stickers *Headset tube sticker *Fork stickers (previous owner removed them)sad

Anyways, Rad bike you got there! I wish mine was all original...Did this bike come with black rims originally?

I'm new to the bmx museum and I can't seem to get pictures to upload on here from my phone and/or computer, otherwise I would. Hopefully I can get it figured out soon so I can share my bikes with everyone. I'm also rebuilding my 1992 Robinson SST currently!

Re: 1996 GT Speed Series Cruiser 24

Anybody have any additional information/confirmation about this? I really don't know, I never knew of a recall on mine because I didn't buy the complete bike new...I am very intrigued now tho and would like the run down if anyone knows the whole story on this bike...? Thanks!

Hey, so this bike is one of about a dozen I've come across being a 24" from what I've seen they were not available complete in 96 and i believe around 97-98 they started swapping this style frame out for the newer box frames. The recall was pretty much a headtube junction failure. The way they originally welded the top and down tubes to the headtube was insufficient causing the front end to fail. I've yet to see one broke now that i think of it but I've nosed this thing pretty hard off a stair set at 200 lbs and i didn't break it. Anyway rarer than the 20" imo with there being less survivors and a plain awesome usa made frame.

Thanks GTCRUISERSS! Yes I agree, awesome frame & fork, I love mine as well! Quick question maybe you can help me with... What size is the seat post and seat post clamp? I am also looking for both of those items as well if anyone out there has for sale, please PM me with photos. GT brand only. Thanks!
